INJURIES AND ILLNESS

1) Look at the descriptions of illnesses below. Can you diagnose what is probably wrong with each patient?
a)

I can hardly speak or swallow anything because my glands are so swollen. I feel terrible.

b) I feel really weak and dizzy. I keep shivering. I have a really high temperature and I ache all over.
c)

I hate the summer. Everytime I go out my eyes stream with tears, I get a runny nose , and I cants stop coughing and sneezing.

d) Ive been throwing up all morning . I feel really awful. e) Im covered in a rash of red spots and theyre really itchy . I cant help scratching.

Imagine that you are a doctor and your partner is a patient. Role-play the situation. You can use the following words : Illnesses: ache, headache, toothache, ear ache, stomachache, cold, flu, cough, pain, infection. Injuries: bruise, cut, graze, wound, sprain. Treatment: bandage, medicine, painkillers, ointment, plaster.

People: dentist, doctor, nurse, surgeon. Verbs: catch, cure, operate , prescribe, write a prescription, treat, treatment to be followed.
