Minutes of Meeting
A one-day workshop on syllabus implementation of Computational fluid dynamics (CFD) for B.E. (Mechanical), Elective No:03, was organized on 5th January 2012, Thursday, at Pimpri-Chinchwad College of Engineering, Pune. The workshop was conducted in accordance with the directives from Board of studies, Pune University. The invitation to this workshop was sent to all affiliated colleges of Pune University through e-mail. Following eminent personalities were present and graced the occasion. Dr. P. J. Prof. S. K. Bhoite, HOD, Mechanical Engineering Dept., PCCOE, welcomed all dignitaries and faculty members who were present for the workshop. HOD introduced the Pimpri Chinchwad College of Engineering, Pune and thereafter gave briefings about the activities carried out in the department of mechanical engineering. Dr. A. M. Fulambarkar, Principal, PCCOE felicitated Prof. Dr. P. J. Awasare, Chairman, BOS. Principal Sir also felicitated Dr. D.S.Bilgi, Dr. P.M.Ghanegaonkar, Dr.M.T. Bhoite and Mr. G.S.Barpande.. Principal Sir, welcomed Chairman, BOS, mechanical Engineering, resource faculties and other invitees and requested Dr. P. J. Awasare to inaugurate the workshop and opening of the session. Dr. P. J. Awasare, Chairman, Board of Studies, Pune University inaugurated workshop and opened the session for discussion. Dr. P. J. Awasare briefly explained the CFD syllabus and discussed the mathematical elements involved in CFD and its similarity with the finite element method. Prof. S. K. Bhoite requested Dr. Narendra Deore to initiate the discussion on the CFD syllabus. Dr. Narendra Deore gave presentation in which he discussed about the CFD course objectives and its outcome. He also presented the teaching plan and lecture plan for CFD and projected the tentative time slots (No. of days) for each unit. Dr. Deore displayed the list of experiment titles required to be carried under the term-work and projection of time-slots to complete the term work. After this presentation open discussion on unit one, two and three was held. This discussion was concluded as follows.

Scope of numerical problem is limited to 1D Transient equation or 2 D steady equation 3. Implementation of TDMA, stability criteria for unsteady conduction equation 4. Recommended text book: J.D. Andersen, CFD The basics with applications. Session one was concluded on above notes and discussion of remaining three units and practical was proposed in post lunch session. Post lunch session was initiated by Dr.P.J.Awasare and discussions were continued on remaining units and practicals. This session was summarized as given below.
