What are the key differences and similarities between the objectives and funding of public, private and voluntary sector sport organisations?

Similarities
Target Groups The first similarities I have found is that private, public and volunteers organisations all target the same types of audiences as they are all sporting organizations, so theyre most expected to aim to attract the same type of customers to theyre establishment. The type of audiences these organisations will aim for is: Private, David Lloyd - Young middle aged adults who like to participate in a healthy and active lifestyle. Also people who receive a reasonable money income, as David Lloyd is a poplar organisation therefore there prices are going to be expensive. They also like to target families as they offer an excusive family membership. Public, Easton Leisure Centre Public organisations have a variety of audiences they target, so I am going to just pick out a few. Middle aged adults. This is the age criteria where everyone would aim to stay fit and healthy, plus Easton leisure centre offer a fitness suite, sports hall and even a swimming pool to those people. Also families, because families tend to have days out in leisure centres to keep the family bond strong. Volunteer, St.Brendens R.F.C - Young children, teenagers and also older men who enjoy playing rugby, meeting new friends and having a great time. So the similarities shown above are that all the organisations attract young to middle aged citizens. Standards of Facilities Another similarity I have come across is that public and private organisations both have similar standard of facilities in theyre establishment. The private organisations make profits where as the public organisations dont as they have to break even. So private establishments have the money to spend on new facilities for the establishment, but all the public organisations will have to rent their equipment. For example David Lloyd is a very popular establishment and they make a reasonable amount of profit to go towards new equipment, also Easton Leisure centre are managed by the government/council so they get money to rent new equipment for the centre. Where as volunteer organisations wouldnt have the same standards of facilities as they make no profit to help go towards new facilities, they might receive some funding from the national lottery. St.Brendens R.F.C has had funding and there facilities are spectacular but this wouldnt be the same for all volunteer organisations.

Extent of Partnerships with Other Sectors Private and Public sectors will usually have extent partnerships with other sectors as they are well known organisations, which attract more customers to the establishment. This will boost the chances in making new partnerships with other companys. As people/companys who find the organisation interesting they would want to form a partnership with them. This partnership can involve a range of things. For example supplying equipment to the establishment. So, David Lloyd has partners like, Canterbury of New Zealand, Head and Penn. These partners all supply kit and equipment for the David Lloyd establishment. And, the Easton leisure centre also has a partner. This is partner is called Everyone Active. This partner help manage the centre on behalf of the council/government. Volunteer organisations can have extent partners but my specific example I have chosen they have none. St.Brendens dont have any partnerships with other companys, I can tell you this as I am part of the St.Brendens organisation.

Differences

Sporting Organisation Private, public and volunteer are all obviously going to be different sporting organisations. The reason being this is that each organisation is set up and managed in a different way. Associated Sport Private, public and volunteer are also going to be different as they are non-similar organisations. So this means that they will be associated with a whole range of different types of sports in their establishments. David Lloyd Gym: Tennis, swimming, exercise classes, gym. St.Brendans R.F.C: Rugby Easton Leisure Centre: Swimming, exercise classes, gym, football, basketball, badminton. Above you can see clearly that the three organisations have different associate sports, for example David Lloyd gym and Easton leisure centre wont be associated with rugby like St.Brendans. But David Lloyd and Easton have some similarities when it comes to associated sports, for example both establishments both associated with swimming, exercise classes and also gym facilities.

Organisational Aims Private, public and volunteer organisations all can have different organisational aims for their establishments. But they have their similarities between them all. For example the similarity is that private, public and volunteer would have the aim of creating new relationships with current and new customers then try to sustain it. And the difference can be that private is the organisation out of that three which makes profit, so the private organisation will be aiming to make more profit in their establishment. David Lloyd: This establishment doesnt state any aims but a normal private organisation aim would be to make a profit and sustain or increase the connection with their customers. St.Brendens: We have a dedicated committee, a thriving coaching set up and socially, we aim to enjoy ourselves. Easton Leisure Centre: Our vision is to be everyones first choice for activity and weve made it our mission to encourage everyone to participate in 30 minutes of moderate physical activity 5 times a week

Pricing Structure Private, public and volunteer pricing structures differ in some occasions. For example private organisations are going to charge more for customers to use their facilities as they are a well know society and their sites are very attractive to citizens so they would have to make the fees a reasonable price in order to keep a profit. Where as public and volunteer wouldnt need to charge as much as they are making no profit out of their customers. But private, public and volunteer can have some similarities in some circumstances. For example all three of the organisations customers have to pay to be a part of their establishment. E.g. St.Brendens R.F.C you have to pay membership fees in order to be a part of the establishment and also David Lloyd gym you have to pay a specific price to be a member of their organisation the same applies with Easton Leisure Centre, you need to pay a fee to be part eligible to use the facilities the establishment has to offer.
