QUICK INSTALLATION GUIDE

for Aphelion Imaging Software Suite


Thank you for choosing the Aphelion software as your environment for the development of computer vision applications. The accompanying DVD contains all files required to install any product in the Aphelion Imaging Software Suite.

Aphelion Installation from the DVD


1. Open the <ProductName> folder, in the Aphelion DVD's root directory, for the product being installed. 2. Execute the .EXE file found in the <ProductName> folder. 3. If the Security Warning panel The publisher could not be verified appears, click the Run button to continue. 4. The Installer Language panel appears. Select your language preference and click the OK button. 5. When the Setup Wizard appears, click the Next button. The License Agreement panel appears. Read the license agreement, then click I Agree if you accept the terms of the agreement. Click Cancel to terminate the installation. 6. After clicking I Agree, the Registration panel appears. Enter your name, company name, and the License Code (see 6a and 6b) you received from our Product Support team (see 6a), then click Next. 6a. If this is the first installation of the Aphelion 4 product on your computer, please copy (e.g., Ctrl + C) the four text lines labeled Package, Identification Code, System, and Release Date found in the Registration panel (see adjacent graphic), and paste (e.g., Ctrl + V) those lines into the Contact UsCode Request page of our website (see Product Support section below). By return email, within one business day, you will receive the License Code needed to unlock the Aphelion software for your computer.

System Requirements
Aphelion installation minimum system configuration: Windows XP, Vista, or 7 operating systems Windows 32-bit or 64-bit operating system Display monitor with 1024x768 resolution, 16-bit color Intel Pentium 4 processor, or equivalent 2 GB of RAM Hard drive with 250 MB of free space A network interface adapter supporting the Ethernet protocol and compatible with NetBios A Windows compatible, local or network DVD drive

Before Aphelion Installation


Before the Aphelion installation process, follow these steps: 1.) Verify that the computer has a correctly configured, real (nonvirtual) network interface adapter or the optional Aphelion USB key is correctly installed (See the Dongle Installation Guide). 2.) Verify that the installation will be done using a Windows session with Administrator rights. Note: Installation on a virtual machine requires the Aphelion USB key option.

Upgrade Installations
When installing Aphelion 4.x.y as an upgrade to a prior Aphelion version, to avoid possible version conflicts you must install the

6b. If this is a reinstallation of the Aphelion 4 product, and if both the product version number (4.x.y) and the network adapter are the same as in the prior installation, then use the License Code (formerly named Product Serial Number or PSN) you received for the prior installation. 7. In the Choose Install Location panel, the default installation folder is specified. You may specify a different installation folder, but keep in mind the discussion above in the Upgrade Installations section. Then click the Next button to display the Choose Start Menu Folder panel. After selecting the Start Menu folder, click the Install button. 8. The Installing panel shows the installation progress. After the installation completes, click the Next button. 9. Microsoft Visual C++ 2008 Service Pack 1 Redistributable Package and Microsoft .NET Framework 2.0 Service Pack 1 are a prerequisite for Aphelion products. If not previously installed, the Aphelion product prerequisites panel appears. Click the Next button and follow instructions on screen to install these distribution package(s) as needed. 10. Your installation of the Aphelion product is now complete. Please follow the test procedure in the next section.

Troubleshooting
If your test of the Aphelion product installation fails, please verify that the conditions described in the Before Aphelion Installation section have been met. If they have not been met, please make the needed corrections. You may also have to close all other applications and disable any security software (e.g., anti-virus). Next, reinstall the Aphelion product by 1.) uninstalling it using the Windows Control Panel applet for this purpose and 2.) carefully following the procedure given in Aphelion Installation from the DVD section. If installation is still unsuccessful, please contact our Product Support Team (see Product Support) for assistance.

Important note: If you disabled your security software earlier, please remember to re-enable it when you have completed the Aphelion product installation process. Product Support

Check for successful installation


Check that the Lab or Dev product installed successfully by opening the installed software and observing that the user interface displays. For the Aphelion SDK product, use the executable program named Help.Examples.exe found as noted in the following table.

In addition, a C# source code program has been provided at <Installation Path>\Examples\dotnet\Help.Examples\Help.Examples.csproj. The executable version lets the user execute any Aphelion SDK imaging function in a demo/test environment.
