TITLE OF YOUR PAPER

Abstract

Introduction Here are a few helpful hints as you write your paper. All papers should be written in the third person unless first person is specifically allowed. Even if you are asked to defend what you believe, it should be completed in the third person. Also, as modeled here, every paper should have an Introduction, Conclusion, and References section. Each of these section headings should be formatted using the 1st Level Heading APA style. To use a style, simply highlight your text and click the style button above. I created this template to have only APA headings, title page, and reference page styles. As you need to add more APA styles for tables, figures, etc., you can do that. All regular text in your paragraphs is formatted using the Normal style. Take a look at screen print below, which highlights the style buttons.

The heading descriptions can be found here: http://owl.english.purdue.edu/owl/resource/560/16/ Also remember these APA tips: (a) all sentences have two spaces between them, (b) intext citations should precede the period or other end of sentence punctuation, (c) if there is no

date for an in-text citation OR reference, use the abbreviation n.d., (d) there is a comma between the author and date in an in-text citation (author, year), (e) the margins are set correctly for this document one inch all around, and (f) all text is double-spaced, including the headings and references. Please review the remainder of this document for structure and as a model. There are two references in the reference section. They are correctly formatted. To reuse this document for all your papers, save it as a MS Word Template to the directory of your choice. When you want to create a new document for a paper, open MS Word, click File, click New, click New from existing, and then choose this template. Rename the file accordingly. Then delete all this content and start writing. First Major Topic Paragraph begins here for the first topic of your paper. APA Heading Level 2 Paragraph begins here, if you require a second level heading. APA heading level 3. The text of your paragraph begins here for any third level topics. Note the lower case of the heading; only the first word is capitalized. The heading is followed by a period. APA heading level 4. The text of your paragraph begins here. The format is the same as level 3, except it is italicized. Although rarely used for short papers, it is good to know how to format the 3rd, 4th, and 5th levels of headings. APA heading level 5. Your paragraph text begins here. It is the same as the 4th level heading without the bold.
