KEY POINTS DISCUSSED

1. Summarised the 2nd survey about Title and theme. We did the survey both online and face to face and received 115 responses within 1 week. More open questions are included in this survey compared with the last one. As Jo suggested, we are using quantitative research techniques for a qualitative purpose, 115 is not a big number though it is enough to give directions and show peoples view. Discussed the methodology we recognize that online survey is going to create a level of bias, but we think it is still useful because people who answer it get a chance to selfselect. Discussed ways to analyze open questions and problems in this questionnaire for example, in the question Do you live in a student home?, we dont know whether those who choose No are students or not. Jo provided suggestions for surveys testing postcard and report writing. 2. Future plan was made clear. AA calendar (time line) was checked by Jo/got feed back from Jo. Short-term: urgent data out of the 2nd survey for other groups, short presentation about title on 10th Fri, short presentation on the 2nd panel meeting, 2nd brief. Long-term: 3rd survey testing web materials in early March, 4th survey about objects and texts in late March and 5th survey during family days in April.

SECOND FRONT-END EVALUATION QUESTIONNAIRE DRAFT

AAT created an online survey at the beginning of February to test the audiences perceptions of the two themes chosen by project team members and to ask the audience which exhibition style/medium they preferred. This survey was also used to ask the audience to rank three out of six possible titles for the project. The titles had been chosen after a class brainstorm. AAT created a draft of the survey, which was then passed onto their GM counterpart for formatting and refinement. Their GM counterpart added tick boxes, comment lines and standardised the survey. The survey was then posted on SurveyMonkey (http://www.surveymonkey.com/) and copies were printed for face to face evaluation. The survey was sent out to all the team members contacts that fit into the primary target audience to obtain results. AAT compiled the data with the help of SurveyMonkey and presented it to the class in PowerPoint form on February 10th, 2012. The title analysis was then passed on PMT to refine and present to the GM.

EXHIBITION & WEB RESOURCE DESIGN QUESTIONNAIRE DRAFT

AAT tested the exhibition and web resource elements of the project in a more focused manner than the other evaluations. Exhibition text, images and layout were tested with the Geffrye Youth Panel on March 12th, 2012. AAT was seeking more qualitative answers than a simple survey could provide, and they initiated discussion of, for example, which video format was preferred for WRTs digital story. The same questions asked at the Geffrye Youth Panel were then formatted into a survey by AATs GM counterpart and launched online on March 17th. Results were collated starting March 21st and distributed to the relevant teams on March 24th. The online survey process was helped by all team members who sent the survey out to their contacts. Evaluation Questions for the Two Exhibition Designs (Notes for AAT team : Questions for the online survey. Questions 1 -4 contain the information we would most like to gain from the youth panel focus group. Also, if there is time on Monday, question 6 on whether they think both designs could be included would also be helpful. ) 1. Which design do you prefer for the panels of the exhibition? Design A Design B

2. Do you prefer this design because it is: a) More fun b) More eye-catching c) Makes the information clearer d) Easier to read e) Other Please specify (NB: qu 3 and 4 for the youth panel only?) 3. Which design do you think will appeal most to the target audience (16-25 year olds) Design A Design B

4. Have you picked this design for the target audience because it is:

5. Which design(s) do you think fits best with the subject of the exhibition Student Homes? Design A Design B Both

6. Do you think both designs could be included as a combination within the same exhibition? Yes No

7. If no is this because a) You do not like both designs b) You feel including 2 designs could be visually confusing c) Other please specify .

SECOND SET OF QUESTIONS 1- Do you think the pictures shown below fit well with the subject of the exhibition exploring student homes? The row of plant pots on the kitchen windowsill of the Islington flat attempt to bring a feeling of home into this temporary accommodation.

2. Combining cultures in the kitchen

The kitchen at Tower Hamlets contains a wide variety of cooking ingredients from all over the world, including a whole row of seasoning and sauces on the right hand shelf. The fridge is decorated with postcards and posters from events the flatmates have been to together. the flatmates have been to together.

3. Potential conflict in student kitchens

The inside of the fridge at Tower Hamlets is typical of fridges in many student homes. Each flatmate has their own shelf, and there is little spare room. Ted also likes to buy a large carton of extra-skimmed milk which can be seen in the door. None of the other flatmates use this milk, and have to fit in their own milk alongside.

EVALUTIONS PROGRESS SUMMARIES

Social Media Evaluation On February 28th, AAT met with ART and WRT to discuss how to carry out the social media evaluation. The teams decided that AAT would evaluate social media in three ways, by analysing the statistics of posts related to the project on Facebook and Twitter, by considering visiting statistics on the blog and by posting a small five question survey on the blog in order to evaluate its success and see how it could be improved: this was done with SurveyMonkey. All these evaluations were carried our throughout a 1 month period (March), with AAT taking statistics within five-day intervals. The results were collated at the end of March. AAT met with ART and WRT on April 4th to discuss the evaluation and make suggestion to WRT about how to improve the blog. The concrete suggestion that came out through the evaluation was the alteration of the blog background as it was considered too confusing and hard to read. WRT proceeded to change the background from sepia to black and white and making it a still image instead of a sliding one. Family Days Evaluation AAT met with LIT and their respective GM counterparts on March 27th to discuss Family Days evaluation methods. AAT adapted the GMs standard Family Days Evaluation form, which LIT and GM counterparts helped format. These forms were printed for the Family Days and AAT ensured that most were completed at each Family Days session both on April 3rd and 4th. They then collated the results and presented the responses at the final panel meeting on April 20th. AAT also had informal chats with parents and Freelancers during the Family Days and took notes on some of the comments made by them.
