Business Research

Presented to: Dr. Hilliard, Instructor March 20, 2012 Written by: Rajib Barua and Lisa Marquez

I. Executive Summary:
The research is about the satisfaction level of the students of the Everest University North Orlando Campus. What is the view of the students about their college. Are they satisfied or dissatisfied or they want changes of their college facilities. Students at times may feel that they are far from their goal and at times may not appreciate or be satisfied with their college. The closer one is to graduation the more satisfied you are with your college because you have a sense of accomplishment and therefore will be satisfied with your college because you feel that they have helped you attain and achieve your goal. Therefore you will have a positive outlook at attending the University of your choice. Many different problems may arise while attending college and therefore it is very important that a student has resources available to them is a variety of different situations. Its important that the student feels that they have someone to talk to and that help is available if needed. One major problem could be a financial problem. It could be whether they had an issue with affording to continue to attend a University or college. If this was a problem, were they able to get the right assistance to continue to attend their class or a plan that would keep them in their anticipated expectations of being able to continue their education to obtain their degree. Did they have options available so they would not have to withdrawal? Its important that students set goals to get to that point when they are graduating. Whether its setting short term goals, like in each semester or long-term goals like attaining youre degree its always good to set specific objectives that are achievable for yourself. If youre on the right path and get to where you want to be you tend to appreciate and be satisfied with the results. Many students may look to their career services department for options has far has internships and getting the right fit for them. Its important for career services to try and match a fit that is the same fit

for what that student may be looking for. Sometimes its good to know what the conditions are and to get as much possible information about a particular job or internship that is being offered. I think this information is important because this may make a difference when is getting closer to graduation of whether the University or college was able to find then a match to meet the needs of the student. Many times its beneficial for students to know details about what a job or internship entail so that they are not wasting valuable time at an internship that otherwise would not be a fit or beneficial to them. In todays world it is very important to get a degree which can help students to keep pace with the present situation. It can be more effective if colleges help them with its resources to finish it successfully.

II. Research Problem:

It is seen that many students are not that satisfy with their college when they are about to finish their degree and they think that if they would get more facilities from their college they could do little better than their prevailing situation. On the other way they wants some more facilities from their college to make their degree more up to date for helping them to keep pace with the competitive present job market.

Literature Review:

On our questionnaire a few of our questions had to do with being satisfied with a variety of campus staff. On a research project done by Noel-Levitz consultants many of the satisfaction of students was because they did not get the run around on the campus ground. Students are made to feel welcome and staff showed that they cared for the students and were very helpful to students is various areas. The Students satisfaction refers to the attraction, pride, or positive feeling that the students develop toward the program or institution (Danielson, 1998; Hatcher, et al., 1992). Strike (1984) indicated that the level of students positive feeling or satisfaction is associated with students being able to find adequate resources to meet their academic

and social interests. The students ability to project and implement their self concepts as a students or viewing themselves as part of the institution is also related to their positive feeling of satisfaction (Sedlacek, 1987; Stikes, 1984). The students positive feeling and satisfaction is also contingent to the students academic and social experiences obtained at the particular institution (Aitken, 1982; Betz, Menne, Starr, & Klingensmith, 1971; Danielson, 1998; Hatcher, et al., 1992; Stikes 1984; Tinto, 1993). The academic and social experiences of students are the vehicles that drive students into the life of the institution (Tinto, 1993). In his Interaction theory into argues that student persistence can be predicted by their degree of integration. He refers to two kinds of integration; academic and social integration. Academic integration refers to how students perform academically (grades) and social integration is how the students interact with faculty (Suhre, Jansen, and Harskamp, 2006). Previous studies have shown that students who report positive academic and social experiences expressed greater satisfaction with their overall college experience (Bailey, et al., 1998; Danielson, 1998; Tinto, 1993). Other key determinants of student satisfaction include academic performance, quality of curriculum, quality of instruction, quality of academic advising, student satisfaction with major, and the level of isolation felt by the student (Aitken, 1982). Interaction between faculty members and students is also a factor affecting student satisfaction in their academic experiences (Allen, 1987; Betz, et al., 1971; Love, 1993; Tinto, 1993). This implies that sufficient and positive faculty-student interaction will contribute to overall student satisfaction (Danielson, 1998; Nettles, et al., 1986; Tinto, 1993). Interaction with fellow students is also associated with student satisfaction (Aitken, 1982).

IV.Statement of Hypothesis:
The longer students attend Everest University North Orlando campus and are closer to attaining their degree the more satisfied they will be with the resources at the University.

V. Data Collection Process:

The data was collected from the students who are attending in Everest University North Orlando Campus. We selected different days in the week to collect the data both the morning and evening shifts. We targeted the students who were in the cafeteria and passing some leisure time. We think that when the students are little free from stress that is the perfect time to collect data from them. We have described about our topic and requested them to fill up the form based on their personal view about the Everest University North Orlando Campus. The survey consists 30 questions based on 'Yes' and No questions. There were also some basic demographic questions. The purpose of data collection is to obtain information to keep on record, to make decisions about important issues, to pass information on to others. Primarily, data are collected to provide information regarding a specific topic. There were some questions regarding the satisfaction of resources available to you and the satisfaction with the University. Do feel that the University has the resources for one to attain your goals that will get to the point of earning the degree of your choice. It will ask questions about whether they feel that the University provides the needed support. The questionnaire will ask questions about those students that are close to graduating, if they are satisfied with their experience and whether they would refer a fried to attend the University. Any student was eligible to complete the questionnaire it does not have to be a specific Program or degree.

Data Analysis; Hypothesis Accepted/Rejected:

After collecting and analyzing the data we find that our Hypothesis is accepted. Our questionnaire was based on Yes and No questions and maximum students marked Yes as their answer. For that reason we think that the longer students attended Everest University North Orlando campus and are closer to attaining their degree the more satisfied they will be with the resources at the University is accepted.

When analyzing the data as far as credits needed to complete the degree, fifty percent did not know how many credits they needed for graduation. Out of the other fifty percent almost everyone was close to graduation. So I really could not say what the status of the other fifty percent was.
60 50 40 30 20 10 0 d t know on less th 16 cred e its more th 16 an

The majority of students who completed the questionnaire were undergraduate students. Maybe one percent was in the graduate program. Many of the students to complete the questionnaires were in the medical programs. Most of the questionnaires were completed by females. There many yes answers selected. There no answers were pertaining to the student students canteen, canteen products and library hours. As far as why students choose to attend Everest University the majority of the answers was other,

followed by reputation with location last. As far as students status, the majority of students that completed the questionnaire are local students versus international. The majority of students I surveyd were single. Most students were unemployed.

VII. Recommendation:
A recommendation would be to be able to come up with a better way to measure the students current status as far as to how close they are to graduation. we would suggest trying to access a larger variety of students. The more survey will conduct that more it will be easier to know more about the students satisfaction level and will able to take proper steps to increase the satisfaction level.
