General Overview
ICD Dadri is a natural consequence of rapid increase in commercial activities in North India. The biggest ICD in this region, located at Tughlakabad was designed to handle 250000 TEUs per annum and today it is no longer sufficient to take any additional load. The volume handled by ICD Tughlakabad in 2004-05 was 400000 TEUs, way beyond its capacity. ICD Dadri was commissioned on 26th January 2004 to provide the much needed relief to exporters and importers in Northern region. The ICD is located at Dadri, Greater Noida, approx. 45 kms from Delhi. Spreadout over an area of 105 hectares, ICD Dadri is also the biggest ICD in Asia. First development phase is complete and the ICD has capacity to handle 0.5 million TEUs per annum. On completion this capacity is expected to increase upto one million TEUs per annum. Facilities Four full length rail lines. 200000 sq. m of concrete block paving for rail handling and stacking of containers. 40000 sq. m bituminous paved area for parking of trailers and trucks. Four rubber tyredgantry cranes for rail handling and container stacking supplemented by reachstackers. Maintainence facility for wagons and equipment. Power plug facility for reefre containers. Complete power back up.

Connectivity The ICD is well linked to National Highways NH 24, NH 58, NH 91 & NH 1. Once the proposed Eastern peripheral expressway becomes a reality, the ICD will have excellent connectivity with NH 2 and NH 71. Discussion are also on with the Greater Noida authority for early completion of Road-Over-Bridge (ROB) connecting the ICD to GT Road and also for widening of Surajpur-Dadri road. ICD-Dadri also has an excellent rail linkage through Dadri railway station on the arterial freight corridor of Delhi-Howrah route forming a part of the Golden Quadrilateral of the Railways. Rail linkage is provided through Dadri station, which falls on Delhi-Howrah route of North Central Railway. It has rail linkages with Major Ports such as JNPT/NSICT, Pipapav, Mundra, Vizag and can also connect Haldia and Kolkata. There is hardly any detention to export cargo as 1-2 trains are run every day for JNPT/NSICT, weekly trains for Mundra and Pipapav, i.e. every Tuesday and Wednesday, respectively. The train for Vizag is run on demand and materialisation of the load.

Marketing Perspective
ICD Dadri is a unique model of public-private-partnership initiatives of the Union government, which means that it will have five private CFSs within its complex, which will be a joint venture of CONCOR and major shipping lines. This ICD will give more choice, customer oriented approach and better service. Competition Private CFS operating from Dadri are as follows :Trident Terminals promoted by APL group Star Track Terminal promoted by Maersk Group. Albatross Terminal promoted by Transworld Group. Two more private CFS to be set up by CONCOR will be in Joint Venture with P&O ports and CMA-CGM (MISC group). Marketing has always revolved around the famous 4 Ps, i.e. : Product, Price, Place and Promotion. In service industry marketing there is one more very important factor i.e. People. Product All private terminal are backed by the well established groups well known for committed and dedicated service for past many years. The services of CFS can be marketed to the importers, exporters and shipping lines for container handling, custombonded warehousing and customs clearance. Price The tariff proposed by the CFS will also be a decisive factor for the customers to use the services. However over the years customers in India have matured to evaluate the overall value added benefits such as IT support, dedicated customer service etc. which indirectly help in saving costs. Place The location of ICD Dadri is ideal for customers located at the industrial areas of Noida, Greater Noida, Sahibabad and Ghaziabad. Promotion Proper coverage of customers in the target market areas as mentioned above and proper presentation of features and benefits of the CFS can help in attracting huge business. Value added benefits of the CFS can be evaluated to devise a suitable marketing strategy once the complete data is available pertaining to tariffs, container handling capabilities, availability of equipments etc. People Every interaction with the customers is an opportunity to prove our dedication and sincerity specially in service industry. A well trained team of customer service and operations is not only useful but also mandatory for retaining the customers.
