General candidates 4 times and OBC candidates 7 times can appear. However there is no limit for SC and ST candidates.

Selection process:
Selection process is gone through under two phases. First phase is written test and the second is group discussion and interview. The exam going to be held on 24th july will be of 2 hours for 200 marks in objective type and 1 hour descriptive exam for 50 marks. There are 4 parts in objective type exam. 1. English language, 2. General awareness and marketing, 3. Data analysis and interpretation, 4. Reasoning(high level). English language: This is very important part in SBI PO exam. General English is in both objective and descriptive test. Descriptive test marks are also considered in selection process, so you should pay special attention to it. Like other banks PO exams SBI too gives importance to grammar, vocabulary and comprehension in English. Preparing for basics in grammar is quite important. Follow the old question paper models and practice thoroughly. Most candidates take 10 to 15 minutes to finish all the questions in comprehension. Practice to finish them within 5 minutes. Through constant practice you can get grip over it. Try to improve the reading speed. By reading English newspapers you can improve your English as well as current affairs. Remember marks you score in English language are considered for merit ranking in SBI exam.

General Awareness and marketing: Marketing issues are interlinked with the knowledge you gain while updating yourself for general awareness. You need not to prepare separately both of them. Reading newspapers like Business Line, Economic Times or The Hindu daily will suffice. Try to cover banking, marketing and computers related news from the last 6 to 8 months. Study deeply different types of

marketing, consumer behavior and product life cycle etc. you can score much marks in this part, so give importance to it. Data Analysis and Interpretation: this is the part you have to concentrate more and invest more time when compared to others. These are high end issues in quantitative aptitude preparation. Basically once you get grip over arithmetic preparation you can easily analyze the given data. Further more you should be quite creative while presenting the analyzed data. Candidates who already written bank PO exams are not new to this. While in other PO papers out or 50 marks 20 to 25 marks are from interpretation. But in SBI 45 marks are from interpretation and 5 marks are from permutations, combinations and probability. Candidates should learn various types of graphs means bar diagram, line graph, charts and table. Get clear understanding over arithmetic mostly percentages, profit and loss etc. It is better to learn speed mathematics. You have to practice more time using your whole energy. Reasoning: this is all about the logical and analytical reasoning. Testing candidates analytical talent and decisiveness is the main purpose of this part. You need to practice with not only basic level reasoning but standard books of reasoning. Every day covering all these four areas your practice should continue. Finish all the areas in just 15 to 20 days before the exam and after then practice in exam style. Allocate the two hours time to these four parts depending on their no. of questions and importance. Practice to finish general awareness in 15 minutes and general English in 20 minutes. Take half minute for each Math question. Exam will become easy. Regarding descriptive paper there a difference between SBI and other banks PO papers. While other banks papers are based on social and economic issues, SBIs PO descriptive part is related to English language. Essay writing, letter writing, comprehension related questions will be there. If you prepare with right plan and idea for not less than 5 to 6 hours daily you can easily pass through the written test and can enter the second stage group discussion and interview. Best of luck.
