Mercedes PowerShift boasts outstanding capabilities on the road leading to more calmness in the Accounts Department. Combining improved ride comfort with more dynamic handling, the new Mercedes-Benz automatic gearshift system meets all driver requirements. With better vehicle handling. With 12 or 16 gears. And, as you will nd out over the next few pages, with an impressive range of individually selectable, application-specific additional functions. And it will also cause something of a stir in the Controlling Department. Mercedes PowerShift reduces rates of wear and tear, helps to improve fuel consumption and, according to transmission version, increases the payload capacity. In short, the Mercedes PowerShift will raise a smile both on the road and at management level.

Manoeuvring mode 1), 2)

Exact, smooth start-o and precisely metered vehicle motion the manoeuvring mode ensures optimum comfort and safety. Sensitive clutch control is guaranteed by providing the full range of the accelerator pedal and engine speeds up to 1000 rpm. Manoeuvring mode is activated and deactivated at the control panel and can be operated in gear ranges 1L and R1L. This ensures that the vehicle is manoeuvred precisely and safely to the required position even in dicult driving scenarios.

Power mode 1)
Power mode is activated at the touch of a button, enabling the driver to call upon enhanced power over a short period. This increases the vehicles agility and allows the driver to mobilise power reserves in specic situations, e. g. on uphill stretches, when joining motorway trac or when overtaking. Power mode is deactivated automatically after ten minutes and the system returns from a power-focused to a consumption-optimised driving style.

EcoRoll mode 1)
EcoRoll mode helps to reduce fuel consumption. EcoRoll is activated when, at a speed exceeding 55 km/h, the driver or driving systems do not accelerate or brake for a period of at least one second. Powertrain deceleration is interrupted by automatically setting the transmission to the neutral position. This mode makes use of those times when the driver wishes to keep on rolling without having to have the foot on the accelerator or brake pedal. As soon as the brake or accelerator is applied again, the correct gear is selected automatically. EcoRoll is active when the vehicle is started but can be deactivated via the control panel.

Rocking mode 1)
Rocking mode comes to the drivers assistance if a vehicle gets stuck in a recess on a soft, slippery surface. This can frequently save the inconvenience of having to be towed out of trouble. Activated at the touch of a button, it can be implemented for all pulling-away gears (forward and reverse) up to a speed of 5 km/h. Pressing the accelerator pedal simultaneously engages the clutch. And quickly releasing the accelerator has the opposite eect, disengaging the clutch causing the vehicle to roll back and the rocking motion begins. This process can be repeated as often as required until the driving wheels can grip the surface and the truck can drive away.

As an enhanced version of the Telligent automatic gearshift, Mercedes PowerShift oers everything that operators and drivers expect from a modern gearshift system in daily operation. They expect great economy and rst-class handling. Optionally available for Actros and Axor road vehicles, the Mercedes PowerShift automatic gearshift employs a so-called non-synchronised 12 or 16-speed transmission. Task-oriented

Extended functionality for cruise control 1)

Thanks to an extended tolerance range, the drive and braking cruise-control systems deliver improved ride comfort and optimum exploitation of the EcoRoll function. Where the previous speed range separating drive torque and braking torque might have been xed at 4 km/h, the tolerance can now be set to anywhere between 2 and 15 km/h at the touch of a button. This enables the driver to get the most out of vehicle momentum (with the right topography). This serves to lower fuel consumption and raise the average speed. If, however, the max. speed is set to 90 km/h, braking cruise control will continue to be activated at 94 km/h.

Direct-shift transmission from 1 to R 1) 2)

Another convenient feature of Mercedes PowerShift is the ability to switch directly from rst gear into reverse. Engaging neutral in the process is no longer necessary. Simply hold down the function button with your thumb and it switches smoothly from rst to reverse. Direct switching saves time and hassle and eases the drivers workload.

Rapid reverse 1) 2)
Mercedes PowerShift features four reverse gears, making reversing easier than ever before. Two of the four reverse gears oer a rapid transmission ratio at higher travelling speeds. This helps to reduce fuel consumption and is highly benecial when covering extended distances in reverse, for example, or negotiating long access lanes without being able to turn.
