2012 Military Teen Adventure Camp

for Youth with Special Needs

Dates: June 22-24, 2012 3:00 PM Friday-11:30 AM Sunday Location: Camp Joy, Clarksville, Ohio near Cincinnati Ages: 14-18 Spaces: 30 for military youth of all branches, components, and status; up to 30 for parents/caregivers Registration deadline: 12 noon (EST), May 25, 2012
Come experience adventures tailored just for special needs teenagers - high ropes and zip line, archery, aquatic skills, canoeing, fossil hunting - and traditional camp activities, too! Camp Joy is accredited by the American Camp Association and can meet most accessibility needs. Accessible features include: zero access entry swimming pool; indoor ropes course with giant swing; indoor climbing wall; and high ropes course with a hydraulic zip line lift.
Camp Joy staff can accommodate varying medical, physical, and emotional special needs teens, so they can attend on their own (in certain circumstances, a parent/caregiver must attend with their teen to ensure all needs are met). Even if your special needs teen is independent, we encourage parents/caregivers to attend the camp with their son or daughter. Thanks to special grant funding the registration fee is just $30 (includes camp T-shirt and photo). Register early to reserve your space! ~ Camp subject to cancelation if enrollment is insufficient; full registration fee refund will be given.
Worried about transportation costs? Funding is available to help with transportation costs to get you to and from camp. Participants will be responsible for traveling to and from camp, but can be reimbursed for travel expenses up to $350, depending on mode of transportation and distance traveled. A bus will also be picking campers up at, and returning them to, WPAFB (near Dayton).
