Asia needs leaders and entrepreneurs.

If you would like to be one, I recommend you consider the SMU MBA, the cornerstone postgraduate programme of Singapore Management University.

WElcomE From thE DEAn

The SMU MBA is built on new ideas and research coupled with proven methods from leading global programmes. Our distinguished faculty comprises senior academics and industry experts who are familiar with the most current business concepts and are passionate about teaching. Through the MBA, we are committed to creating opportunities for participants to interact with top business leaders at our vibrant campus in Singapores city centre. Participants will also visit our corporate partners to better understand developments in a variety of industries. The ties between the business community and SMU are extensive and growing. Our MBA participants will have privileged access to the vast business network we have built. The Flex-time and Full-time MBA programmes are designed to train participants in management and leadership so that they can make an impact on the global economy as an entrepreneur, the head of a Fortune 500 company, or both. At SMU, we believe an MBA should prepare participants for a career of growing responsibilities, not just the next job. Our general management-based curriculum balances functional and managerial knowledge. We provide career services from the start and support self-awareness training to prepare SMU MBAs for the long term. Our MBA programme is unique in several ways. First, it emphasises management and leadership training. Such expertise is often cited as the most valuable training anyone can get from an MBA programme and is sought by most companies, even though it is often left in the shadow of other MBA curricula. Second, to make the most of in-class time, basic finance and accounting concepts are studied prior to starting the programme. This ensures fuller in-class discussion and a solid basis to start this accelerated MBA. The full support we provide gets everyone up-to-speed before you begin. As an SMU MBA you become a part of the SMU community. Please come and visit our city campus. I look forward to seeing you soon. Yours sincerely

ABoUt SmU
Since its incorporation in 2000, SMU has established undergraduate and postgraduate programmes that aim to produce business leaders and creative entrepreneurs capable of excelling in a rapidly changing and dynamic world. Its educational and administrative practices are modelled after world-class institutions, in particular the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania, which has played a key role in SMUs development. SMU has six schools School of Accountancy, Lee Kong Chian School of Business, School of Economics, School of Information Systems, School of Law and School of Social Sciences. Within a few short years, SMU has redefined tertiary education in Singapore and has achieved a high degree of recognition and respect in Singapore, Asia and beyond.

From its conception, SmU was designed to provide a different model of university education here in Singapore. We wanted to start with a clean slate instead of just adding another public university in the mould of the existing ones. From this starting point emerged a confluence of factors that make SmU special.

In keeping with the spirit of the Singapore Management University, the SMU MBA is unconventional in delivery and design. Two programmes are taught a 2-month Full-time and 6-month Flex-time MBA. Because we value our participants time, the SMU MBA is intense and accelerated. An innovative pre-course self-study component maximises the use of in-class time. Both the Full-time and Flex-time programmes focus on leadership and communication, with a solid foundation in the traditional functions of management. The structure of the core curriculum is unconventional. It includes core subjects, such as negotiations and ethics, which are traditionally offered as electives. Participants can choose their ten electives from a broad selection of subjects to tailor their MBA to their specific needs.
