The activity was entitled Ka-SciYahan and it was performed on November 13, 2011. Since the CWTS component assigned to the section was education, their project aimed to impart academic knowledge. Kasciyahan is about demonstrating different science concepts and phenomenon through fun and amusing experiments. The students presented some experiments like the foamy fountain, the quick sand and the Coke-Mentos fountain which made the kids amazed. The students gathered at the MIT campus at 9:30 in the morning. Supplies for the project implementation were bought previously by their own instructor. As soon as the students arrived at the community, they gathered children to participate in their project. The venue of the project implementation is at the basketball court of the Barangay, which is under Nagtahan Bridge. About 10:30am they were all setting up in the area. The students used trash bags as layover to keep the area clean. The first experiment, foam fountain, shows the reaction when hydrogen peroxide, dishwashing liquid, and yeast are mixed together in a bottle: foam started forming like those in a washing

ACTIVITY REPORT FORM machine. The second experiment, Putok Mo Lobo Ko, shows a balloon being pricked by a needle without popping. The trick: the needle was coated in petroleum jelly and the surface of the balloon where the needle was pushed was covered with scotch tape. This experiment demonstrates catastrophic crack propagation. The third experiment, Quicksand, demonstrates how a mixture of water and cornstarch behaves when it is touched slowly and punched quickly. The facilitators let the children try the experiment. However, they got too excited that they became uncontrollable. The last experiment is the highlight of the project. It is the coca cola-mentos experiment. Several mentos candies were dropped in the bottle of the cola, a chemical reaction occurs that let the soda blow up and produces fountain. After the said experiments the students, together with their instructor, gave out snacks to the children who participated in the said event. Looking at their faces you can tell that they did enjoy the KASCIYAHAN project that the students did. They also interacted with them while waiting for their bus.
