major projects this summer is the 2012 AASuccess Wellness/Healthy Living Event, in which she will be working with professionals as a lead of the event. More information will be released in next months E-News. Since I joined AASuccess, Ive opened up to a broader way of thinking and great opportunities that ultimately helped me select the right pathway to my education. Through our strong network of skilled professionals, I was able to ask questions and receive valuable insight to benefit my career path. I learned that success was not something that could be measured quantitatively, rather, its importance and essence lied in qualitative factors, such as strengthening my skill sets. AASuccess has helped me to recognize my weaknesses and has worked with me to improve them through practice and real-life scenarios, such as projects. -Michelle Kim

Recruiting Members for AASuccess

Preparing for his new role as the President of AASuccess in September, Vihanh Tham is hard at work recruiting new members for AASuccess. Recently, Vihanh and David Montanari, a Board of Directors member, made a trip to J.E.B. Stuart High School to meet with the school counselors and the Career Center about the AASuccess Trainee Program for FreshmenSophomore Students. According to Vihanh, it was a great learning experience in communication because [he] had the opportunity to listen to David speak effectively about AASuccess. By directly reaching out to a pool of students, the trip was a step forward for AASuccess. At the end of the meeting, the Career Center and counselors provided AASuccess with a number of possible candidates, demonstrating that the visit to the high school was a success and providing confidence for Vihanhs plan of recruitment. Vihanh is currently working on the next step, which is creating a package to be sent to parents, school career specialists, and other Parent Teacher Student Organizations (PTSOs), to explain the AASuccess Trainee Program. More information about the AASuccess Trainee Program in the next E-News.
