CALL TO WORSHIP Young and old, sons and daughters of God, all you who are the diverse creations of God's imagination and love, join in praise and thanksgiving as we worship the One who brings us together. We come to this place, bringing our varied stories, our unique gifts, and our distinct calls to serve. We come together in partnership and mission, knowing that we are called to be the church: to celebrate God's presence, to serve others, to seek justice, to offer the hope of the Resurrected Christ. We are called to be the body of Christ: a community of believers, a household of faith, a communion of saints, the people of the covenant. We are called to the one hope of our high calling: one Lord, one faith, one baptism, one God. As members of the body of Christ, we covenant together in this hour to build on our sure foundation of Jesus Christ our Lord and to seek the vision of Christs hope for the world. Let us worship God! INVOCATION PASSING THE PEACE OF CHRIST La paz del Seor sea contigo. Y contigo tambin. The peace of the Lord be with you. And also with you.

GATHER US IN

Here in this place, the new light is streaming, shadows of doubt are vanished away. See in this space our fears and our dreamings, brought here to you in the light of this day. Gather us in, the lost and forsaken; gather us in, our spirits inflame. Call to us now, and we shall awaken; we shall arise at the sound of our name. We are the young, our lives are a mystery; we are the old, who yearn for your face. We have been sung throughout all of history, called to be light to the whole human race. Gather us in, the rich and the haughty; gather us in, the proud and the strong; Give us a heart so meek and so lowly; give us the courage to enter the song. Here we receive new life in the waters; here we receive the bread of new birth; Here you shall call your sons and your daughters, call us anew to be salt for the earth. Give us to drink the wine of compassion, give us to eat the bread that is you; Nourish us well, and teach us to fashion lives that are holy and hearts that are true. Not just in buildings, small and confining, not in some heaven, light years away, Here in this place the new light is shining; now is God present, and now is the day. Gather us in and hold us forever; gather us in and make us your own; Gather us in, all peoples together, fire of love in our flesh and our bone. PRAYERS OF THE PEOPLE AND LORDS PRAYER Jason Smith Our Father who art in Heaven, hallowed be thy name. Thy Kingdom come. Thy will be done on Earth as it is in Heaven. Give us this day our daily bread, and forgive us our debts as we forgive our debtors. Lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil. For Thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, forever. Amen. SERMON Writing a History MUSICAL REFLECTION O How Amiable Ralph Vaughan Williams (1872 - 1958) Amy Butler

Festival Choir Kevin Biggins, organ

O how amiable are thy dwellings, thou Lord of hosts! My soul hath a desire and longing to enter into the courts of the Lord. My heart and my flesh rejoice in the living God. Yea, the sparrow hath found her an house, And the swallow a nest where she may lay her young, Even thy altars, O Lord of hosts, my King and my God. Blessed are they that dwell in thy house: They will be always praising thee. The glorious Majesty of the Lord our God be upon us. Prosper thou the work of our hands upon us. O prosper thou our handywork. O God, our help in ages past, our hope for years to come, Our shelter from the stormy blast, and our eternal home.

INVITATION TO DISCIPLESHIP Amy Butler Hymn of Invitation Kevin Biggins, organ During the Hymn of Invitation, we invite you to come forward if you would like to make a public commitment to Christ or wish to join our family of faith. The Churchs One Foundation AURELIA The churchs one foundation is Jesus Christ our Lord; we are his new creation by water and the Word; from heaven he came and sought us to be his holy bride; with his own blood he bought us, and for our life he died.

Called forth from every nation, yet one oer all the earth; our charter of salvation: one Lord, one faith, one birth. One holy name professing and at one table fed, to one hope always pressing, by Christs own Spirit led. Though with a scornful wonder the world sees us oppressed, by schisms rent asunder, by heresies distressed, yet saints their watch are keeping; their cry goes up, How long? And soon the night of weeping shall be the morn of song. Mid toil and tribulation, and tumult of our war, we wait the consummation of peace forevermore; till with the vision glorious our longing eyes are blest, and the great church victorious shall be the church at rest. We now on earth have union with God the Three in One, and mystic sweet communion with those whose rest is won. Oh, happy ones, and holy! Lord, give us grace that we like them, the meek and lowly, on high may dwell with thee. Welcoming New Members We give thanks that you have been guided by the hand of God to this community of faith. We pledge to love each other and to work to grow into the fullness of Christ together. Amen. PASTORAL BENEDICTION CHORAL BENEDICTION The Lord Bless You and Keep You Peter C.
