Background Chin Progressive Party was formed by 28 committee members composed of retired government staff and businessmen with no previous involvement in politics. The main policy is to create opportunities in Chin State for peace, health care, education and economic development, as well as promoting equal rights for Chin people within the Union and the right to preserve their natural resources, literature and cultural heritage. Statements 20 Aug 2010 Hlung Kyae said his party is struggling to pay candidate fees. He believes that no party will win by a landslide in the election and that his party will win some of the seats in Chin State. Furthermore he said the CPP had held discussions with the CNP on forming an alliance to contest the election. 16 Aug 2010 Party vice chairman U Noe Htan Kut said a lack of political knowledge in remote areas of Chin State is hampering the partys efforts to sign up members. 6 Aug 2010 Representatives from the Chin Progressive Party and Chin National Party say they are confident that only ethnic parties will be able to emerge winners from the polling in Chin State.
