Revenue Recognition Details Under SOP 97-2, an explicit commitment to deliver, or agreement to deliver, on a when-and-if-available basis a specific version of software with specific features and functionality is a specified upgrade right. Because Adobes policy allows customers to receive a free upgrade, revenue must be deferred because customers are given a 100% discount on a specified upgrade right. The percentage of customers estimated to exercise the upgrade right, or a redemption rate, can be applied to the deferred revenue. The revenue deferral for shrink-wrap products will start 90 days before the ship date of each Tier languages. Revenue deferral for licensing will be determined if its necessary at end of the quarter of which the product ships. NOTE revenue deferral amount is TBD and is not $0.
