Introduction
My name is Tim and I am your consultant for Green I.T. and today we will discuss the departments policies and strategies. Here is a report on environmental policies, resources, and bills.

Environmental review
1.1 Environmental aspects and impacts Recycling of paper - helps mitigate the need for felling trees Using of recycled paper - reduces the rate of tree logging Using energy efficient lighting - reduces energy bills and coal consumption Using energy efficient computer hardware - reduces energy bills and coal consumption Using recycled water for bathrooms - saves on water usage and saves on water bills Using electronic documents instead of paper documents - reduces reliability on paper

Are Thin Clients for the classroom? below is a HP testimonial

Thin Client solutions for education
Thin Client solutions for education can bring powerful technology to every desk in the classroom. Schools worldwide have turned to Thin Client solutions for education implementations for rich computing experiences that give teachers and administrators control and enhance student learning, while helping schools stay within budget by reducing overall management and maintenance costs. Empower IT with Thin Client Education Solutions Source Free IT from time-consuming deployment and management tasks, increasing efficiency and productivity. Safeguard sensitive student and faculty data with greater protection from viruses and other security threats. Keep up with demand for specialized applications, reducing testing and deployment. Assign computing power where and when it's needed.

Specific methods of improvement

1. Progressive upgrading of lighting to Electronics T5 Standards The cost of installing these lights can add up, 200 light installations can cost $33,000 cost of fitting $50, cost of electrician $100, cost of tube $15. -Source If you are looking to slash 50% off your lighting bills and reduce your carbon footprint, then you have come to the right place! -Source 2. Scripted shutdown on computers at 10pm Create a shutdown.bat script to turn off all host computers and servers that dont need to stay on. Use Task Scheduler in Win7 to run the .bat script at 10pm daily. Source 3. Installation of solar panels Impracticable; Return on insufficient. 4. Use of solar panels to recharge batteries Impracticable; No solar panels.

Implementation of performance strategies

3.1 Strategies and actions for implementation
The implementation of Thin Clients can either be done upfront or over a 24 month plan for an average of $3,453.25 per month (not including labor) in building/installing the infrastructure of Thin Clients and the needed servers and hardware.

3.2 Responsibility for implementation

The IT section of Lid TAFE would be responsible for maintaining the integrity of the Thin Client infrastructure i.e. maintaining the server and making sure all clients/servers are shut down after 10pm.

3.3 Methods for measuring and monitoring effectiveness of performance improvement strategies
After both the Thin Clients and its infrastructure and T5 lightings are installed you can measure the ROI by keeping note of the energy savings every quarter and compare this to the cost of these new installations. Over some years they will pay themselves off by cutting energy bills.
