Does this sound familiar? Have you said it or have you heard your friends say it? Lets see what the Word of God has to say: 1 Corinthians 6:19-20 - What? know ye not that your body is the temple of the Holy Ghost which is in you, which ye have of God, and ye are not your own? For ye are bought with a price: therefore glorify God in your body, and in your spirit, which are God's. 2 Corinthians 7:1 - Having therefore these promises, dearly beloved, let us cleanse ourselves from all filthiness of the flesh and spirit, perfecting holiness in the fear of God. Heres the thing - Medicine is a drug, but if it is prescribed by a doctor it is within the law. The drugs that will get you off your senses are not to be used, thats illegal. God, in His Word, has asked us to respect the law (Romans 13:1-3). Just like alcohol abuse, if you drink alcohol to the point that you get drunk then you have abused the use of it. Similarly, if you abuse drugs and use them to the point that they get you so high that you don't know what you're doing, then that's not what God would have us to do. But if you use drugs to eliminate pain, say for instance people that have diseases or body organs deteriorating, then prescribed drugs can be taken to help people have a better quality of life. Recreational use of drugs is not permitted. Let me give you an example Neel worked hard on a project for months together with very little rest or sleep. Once the project was delivered, he bought a bottle of strong cough syrup, swallowed the contents of the bottle in one gulp and slept for 52 hours straight. Is that right? Some may say Well, whats wrong with that? The poor guy was just too tired and wanted a good rest I dont see anything wrong. But that wrong, my friend. There is a healthier way of doing things. He could have had a good meal and just slept He was anyways tired, sleep would have come easily anyway. By taking a heavy dosage of unwanted drugs, would affect his nervous system, his digestive system and more. This means his body was tortured

purposefully. This body is Gods gift; its the temple of the Holy Spirit. We have to respect it at all costs. We are accountable as to how weve taken care of it. Its very important to check the source of every activity. If you are questioned about the godliness of any action, check its source. When and where does the abuse of drugs come from? Humans have used drugs of one sort or another for thousands of years. Wine was used at least from the time of the early Egyptians; narcotics from 4000 B.C.; and medicinal use of marijuana has been dated to 2737 B.C. in China. But not until the 19th century A.D. were the active substances in drugs extracted. The problems of addiction were recognized gradually. It was with the rising pop and rock culture that encouraged the illicit use of drugs. Why drugs? When one is under the influence of drugs, the concentration levels are high and people find it easy to focus on fine aspect to create music, stories, paintings basically, anything creative. Drug users have often described their experience as if time lapsed in a daze when high on drugs, one can be stationed at one place from morning to evening. The sense of time lost and euphoria settles in. Another repercussion coming out of drug abuse and rock music is bottomless philosophies very pleasing to the ear but baseless. One such philosophy of our times states that the only way to attain world peace is immersing one and all in marijuana. Everyone would be high and would forget war. Surprisingly, this philosophy was bought with open arms. Varied versions of hard rock and pop music encourages the usage of drugs, tapes with back messages would play with the subconscious of teenagers to do drugs, to kill, etc. Both the root and the fruit of using drugs is ungodly and inhumane. My beloved brother and sister, if you are caught in the bondage of drug addiction and want deliverance, take a step of faith Ask the Lord to deliver you from the clutches of this addiction. A simple prayer like, God, help! I cant stop without You. Let me stop. Amen. Jesus is your Redeemer, He loves you and will help you. Just keep trusting him! Jesus came to earth to give you life life in abundance! If you know of a loved one who is struggling with drug addiction, ask God to heal and guide them through treatment and beyond. Let me leave you with this note: When confused with whats right or wrong, read the Word of God with the help of the Holy Spirit. Once you get a confirmation, stick with it. For if God said it that settles it. Period!
