The flue and the linking to the hearth must be clean and airtight. The chimney must at least have the same section as the fireplace exit ( 125). - Adjusting the appliance - Your appliance has been set correctly in the factory where it was sealed. If due to local conditions an adjustment has to be made, this should only be performed by an approved installer. Any work performed by the user would result, ipso facto, in cancellation of the guarantee. - If an installer wants to transform the appliance from a gas category to another, he MUST contact the manufacturer. - The appliance is fitted with a thermal return safety device (TTB system): * never short circuit it! * if ever the TTB system is changed, only use the original model. - Do not use any flammable materials to fit your appliance. Your installer can supply you with or advise you on suitable materials for you to protect the surroundings of your fire and improve the performance of your installation. Good insulation contributes to good operation and good performance from your fire. - Keep all flammable materials away from the appliance.

TO FORESEE:

- You have to provide a place in the chimney for the ventilation and also air entry holes. The ventilation volume and the top of the appliance has to be airtight (chimney linking). In fact, this avoids any fortuitous fume sucking through the ventilation. - It is necessary provide a way of minimum 6 dm without filter or minimum 9 dm with dust filter in the masonry for the entry of ventilation air.
12

- The minimal dimensions of the niche for the Harmonie gas installation are L 780 - H 685 - D 360. You have to foresee a minimum space under the niche of 400 x 200 x 260 for the ventilation. - Provide a gas inlet piping on the left of the appliance (precise position, see chap. 3. Dimensions). - Provide a power socket. If this is made through the masonry, sheath and feed through the electrical wire. - Provide, if possible, the connecting of the warm air exit on the top of the appliance.

INSTALLATION A STRIPPING OF THE FIREPLACE

- Remove the door (unscrew the fixing screw, pull the bottom of the glass to yourself and take off the top of the glass from the 2 fixing shanks). WARNING!!! Never turn upside down the door when it is removed, the glass could fall! - Remove carefully the ceramic logs and the firedog. - Remove the burner and take care to disconnect the high-voltage cable (1) , the lighting box (2) (unscrew the fixing screw (3)) and the solenoid connection(4)

13

- Take down the face of the electronic control box (4 screws), disconnect and unscrew the TTB from its support. - Unscrew the ventilation cover. - Remove the chicane and unscrew the 4 fixing nuts from the combustion chamber. Remove the combustion chamber and take care to free the TTB. - Unscrew the 4 nuts from the draught diverter and remove it. A CONNECTIONS

- Fix the nozzle onto the hose. Provide a sufficient length to install the fireplace. - Fit the electrical inlet cables for the ventilation and for the electronic control box. - Connect the connecting bend to the gas pipe (on the left of the appliance). S The thermostatic plummet must be placed in an area sensible to the room temperature and which cant directly be influenced by the burners radiation. A

INSTALLATION OF THE FIREPLACE

- Place the Harmonie casing and its isolation into the niche. - Enclose the nozzle connected to the chimney pipe assembly in the 125 ring (access via the draught diverter). Bend the flaps to fix the ring. - Reassemble the draught diverter (4 nuts) - Introduce the heating element assembly into the casing paying attention to the capillary of the thermal switch (TTB). - Fasten the heating element assembly using the 4 screws. - Fit the baffle. - Fit the ventilation assembly and connect to the speed adjuster and then reassemble the ventilation cover.

14

Harmonie ventilation placing

1.You have to withdraw the door (1). 2.Withdraw the logs and the andiron (2). 3.Disconnect and remove the burner (3). 4.Unscrew the ventilation dividing sheet iron (4). 5.Place the ventilator by inside the seating foreseen (5). B e careful to the placing direction ventilator

- Reassemble the electronic control box paying attention to reconnect the TTB and to screw it back on its support. Realize the connection for the electric feeding.

- Fit the burner assembly and the firedog. Note: You can place a stop valve on the inlet burner copper tube. In this case,
15

you must firstly dismantle the tube, fit the tap and fit the burner.

Connect the lighting box to the valve. Connect the MOLEX pin (1), the cable coil (2) and the lighting cable to the lighting checker.

- Fit the ceramic logs paying attention to respect carefully their respective positions. The inter turning on between the front and the back part from the burner happens via the log B. The tunnel shell always be clean and clear

- Fit the door. Screw the doors locking screw. - Fit the frame (slide it behind the lateral springs). A CONNECTION TO AN EXTERNAL THERMOSTAT

You can connect the electric feeding of the electronic control box to an external thermostat which will light and turn off the appliance according its own order. In that case, it will have right over the internal thermostat of the appliance.

16

USE -During day, set the external thermostat on a higher temperature (eg.30C) than the internal one. Indeed, the internal one give a better comfort of temperature fluctuation (due to its continuous regulation between min. and max.). -During the night, you can set external thermostat on the desired temperature, comfort not being important (ON/OFF functioning without continuous regulation). -To obtain a ambience flame, you need to set the external thermostat to a higher temperature.

17

USE AND MAINTENANCE INSTRUCTIONS

8 IMPORTANT RECOMMENDATIONS - Keep all objects which are easily flammable away from the appliance (nylon, flammable liquids, etc...). Furniture must be kept at a reasonable distance (1 m) from the appliance. - WARNING: children and people who are not familiar with the operation mustnt attempt to perform any operation on the Hamonie gas. If necessary, you can provide a supplementary protection to avoid children to touch the appliance, for example. - All the parts above the door are considered as active heating and so dont touch them when the fire is lighted. You could burn yourself. - No using the fireplace with a broken or without door. A

FIRST LIGHTING OF THE APPLIANCE

- Set the fan on the maximum speed to run it in (during more or less 12 hours). - The first heating bakes the paint and this causes fumes. ! VENTILATE THE ROOM

DONT TOUCH THE PAINT UNTIL THE FIREPLACE HAS BEEN COOLED BECAUSE DURING THE FIRST HEATING THE PAINT SOFTENS. - After heating for two hours, stop the appliance, allow it to cool, take out the glass to remove any whitish deposits using a damp cloth and then refit. A

AT EACH USING IMPERATIVELY

18

* USE THE VENTILATION

USING THE APPLIANCE SKETCH OF THE DIFFERENT CONTROLS

(1) Lighting switch: switch used to light (1) or turn off the appliance (0) Note: If an external thermostat is used, keep it always at 1. (2) Temperature regulation: You can choose the temperature according to the position of this knob. The electronic regulation will adapt the gas flow rate according to the temperature of the detection soundings (3). When the soundings temperature approach the wished temperature, the gas flow rate will decrease and then the appliance will go out, if necessary. (4) Atmospheres switch: This switch allows to keep a permanent flame. The regulation operates always from the maximum flow rate to the minimum flow rate but the appliance will never go out, even if the rooms temperature is higher than the regulation of the temperature. (5) Defectiveness witness and reset knob (6): The defectiveness witness goes on in any case of problems. To restart the appliance, push on the reset knob (see chap. 10. Operation of safety services).

VENTILATION
19

The ventilation must always be lighted. The speed of the fans can be adjusted so that you can adapt the ventilation to your requirements. It is recommended that the minimum speed is not used for the first few hours (running-in). The ventilation system is fitted with a thermal contact. This device starts or stops ventilation automatically according to the temperature of the heating element. When it reaches a temperature of approximately 40 EC, the thermal contact cuts the ventilation. 10 OPERATION OF SAFETY DEVICES The cartridge is fitted with spark generator and an electronic flame detector. This system assures a maximum security and warns of all the working problems (gas inlet cut, fortuitous flame extinction, TTB starting...) and the appliance goes on the security position (lighted defectiveness witness). When you want to restart it, push on the reset knob. THE FIRST TIME THAT YOU LIGHTEN THE FIRE (BEGIN OF THE SEASON OR NEW INSTALLATION), IT IS POSSIBLE THAT A PRESENCE OF AIR IN THE TUBE DISTURBS THE FLAME DETECTION. IN THIS CASE, PUSH ANY TIMES ON THE RESET KNOB. The appliance is also fitted with a TTB system (thermal return safety device). This system cuts off the arrival of gas if the combustion gases are diffusing in the part. In case of starting, the defectiveness witness lights. This thermal switch cuts off the burner in the following circumstances: - superheating of the appliance due to a bad (too low or dirty) or not working ventilation; - insufficient negative pressure in the pipe; - negative pressure in the room due to a mechanical suction system; - defective connection between the appliance and the exhaust duct; - the exhaust duct is partially or totally obstructed; - not enough air in the room or insufficient introduction of external air; - wind in the exhaust duct (reversing).
20

If the appliance regularly goes out, quickly contact your installer. NEVER SHORT CIRCUIT THE SAFETY SYSTEM. If ever the TTB safety system has to be changed, only use the original model.

WARNING ! - If for any unknown reason, or because of an incorrect movement of the controls the TTB starts, WAIT TEN MINUTES BEFORE RELIGHTING. PUSH ON THE RESET KNOB TO RELIGHT THE APPLIANCE (THE DEFECTIVENESS WITNESS MUST GO OUT).

11 MAINTENANCE - Never clean the appliance when it is hot! Wait for it to cool. - Do not use any corrosive products or any liquid; a dry cloth is recommended. - Any slightly rusty areas can be repaired using SPECIAL HIGH TEMPERATURE paint available from your supplier. - To clean the glass use BG CLEAN, available from your supplier. - The fan must also be cleaned once or twice a year according to its fouling: * DISCONNECT the power supply. * GENTLY clean the blades and turbines using a brush (DO NOT USE COMPRESSED AIR!).

ANNUAL MAINTENANCE
21

- The appliance and the exhaust duct must be inspected and cleaned every year by your approved installer! Close the stop tap of the gas supply. Remove the glass (take this opportunity to clean it). Remove the logs and remove any dust from them with a brush. Remove any deposits of dust inside the heating element and on the burner using a vacuum cleaner or a brush. * Inspect the leaktightness of connections and that the different controls are operating correctly. Note: if the ceramic logs are replaced, it is essential that their respective position is observed (locating pins). * * * *

22

12 OPERATING PROBLEMS PROBLEM - Ventilation is not working1 REMEDY Check starting. Check (and replace) the fuse. Check (and replace) the thermo contact. Check (and replace) the adjuster.

- Ventilation is operating but the flow rate is low - No spark at the lighting electrode

- Clean or replace the filters/aspiration grating. - Clean the turbine blades. - Check that the feeding is on, the switch is on 1, the thermostat regulation is high enough and the defectiveness witness is not lightened (in that case, push on the reset knob). - Check the connections of the hightension wire. - Check (and replace) the wire. - Check (and replace) the electrode. - Check (and replace) the connections of the lighting box. - Inadequate ventilation ( fouling or not lightened). - Check the correct position of the lighting electrode. - Check the TTB security system. - Check the flue. - Check the electrical feeding. - Replace the fuse on the electronic checking card.

- Intervention of the TTB safety system (lightened defectiveness witness)

- The appliance doesnt work any more and the defectiveness witness is not lightened (switch on 1 and thermostat at maximum rate)

Warning, if the fuse goes, or the electronic circuit of the speed adjuster, this usually means that there is a fault in the fan or in the electric system. Have it checked by your supplier. 23
