DETAILED LESSON PLAN FOR FINAL DEMONSTRATION

I.OBJECTIVES: At the end of the lesson, the students are expected to: Explain and appreciate the meaning of a quotation; Express ideas and emotional reaction effectively regarding the story; Listen critically and purposively to the selection; Participate actively in the discussion, Value the importance of showing ones talent.

SUBJECT MATTER: Topic: The Slaves Talent Reference:www.pitara.com/talespin/folktales.asp?couter=50s Materials: Manila paper, colored paper and strip of paper Skills: Expressing Emotional Reaction to what has been listened Values Integration: To have the courage to show and share talents they possess. EXPLO RE
At this stage, the teacher should be able to do the following: Make the learners understand and appreciate the quotation.

Let the learners construct a puzzle. Ask them to predict what the story is all about using the quotation and the puzzle.

ACTIVITY 1: Quotation Post the quotation on the board. Have the learners read the quotation. Call some of them to share ideas regarding the quotation. Synthesize the ideas mentioned by the learners.

ACTIVITY 2: Arrange the puzzle Divide the class into four (4) groups according to the color of their codename. Give the puzzle to each group. Let them construct the puzzle. Ask them to predict what the story all about based form the quotation and the puzzle.

FIRM UP
At this stage, the teacher should be able to do the following: Make the learners illustrate or crystallize their knowledge and understanding of the story entitled The Slaves Talent. Ask them to express freely their ideas and predictions on what will happen to the story through sectional approach.

ACTIVITY 3: Chunking Ask them to listen carefully to the selection. Let them freely express their opinions and predictions.

At this stage, the teacher should be able to do the following:

Provide students with thought-provoking questions that will make them reflect to the moral lesson of the story.

ACTIVITY 4: Question and Answer Ask the learners to give name of the celebrity or well-known person who becomes famous because he shows his talent. Have them explain the benefits or importance of showing ones talent. Let the class mention the moral lesson of the selection.

TRANSF ER
At this stage, the teacher should be able to do the following: Provide students with meaningful and challenging activities that will reinforce what they have learned.

ACTIVITY 5: Cabbage Game Remind the class that for this activity they will the same groupings. Present a nursery song Instruct the learners that for this activity, they must sing the nursery song while a cabbage is passed on form one group to another group. When the song ends, the group who has the cabbage will peel off and answer the question in it. Let the class mention the moral lesson of the story.

IV. EVALUATION: (Showcase) Using the same groupings, students will prepare a simple presentation and present it to the class. Like dancing, singing and etc. that will enhance their talents.

Read the story entitled, The Jar of Tassai by Grace P. Moon and answer the comprehensive check. English Expressways for Third Year Level Page: 232-236
