REFLECTION ABOUT CLASSROOM MANAGEMENT MODULE

According to that I have learned about classroom management, I can say that it refers to how teachers or professors deal issues of facilitation, inspection and supervision of the class activities within classroom environment. By the same token, teachers have to employ a set of practices or techniques that create a suitable environment that promotes and facilitates the teaching and learning process, and the same time, to control students behavior. According to Evertson et al. (1983) states that classroom management is more

comprehensive than the notion of student discipline. It implies that teachers have to take into account all things that are in their hands to improve students` involvement, create a productive learning environment, and establishing a set of rules that allow them to manage some difficult situations in relation to students. After knowing the factors that influence or affect classroom management, it is possible to state that such issues are related to the physical environment of the classroom, teachers` voice and body language, teacher preparation, and teaching under adverse circumstances, argued by Brown (2007).

Before taking the module, I did not know almost anything about classroom management, at least in the theoretical part. However, throughout the classes and discussions; I understand why I need to learn everything about teaching profession. Each part of the module that we discussed was so interesting, because I realized that there are many factors that affect classroom management and I learned how to deal with them, how to look for solutions when they appear. I as a future teacher, I have to put into practice all the knowledge and skills that I have acquired during the modulo; for instance, talking about physical environment, it is important to consider that nowadays children are more exposed to any distraction that happens during the every lesson; it refers distractions such as machinery outside street noise, hallway voices etc. These problems that can profoundly affect students` performance, I must rapidly make a decision in order to make my classroom more comfortable and more permissible for students.

On the other hand, when I conducted my practicum II, perhaps for lack of experience or knowledge about the subject matter, I made mistakes when I attempted to look for solutions to a problem. However, I tried to manage the classroom organization, the students misbehavior, chalkboard use and equipments as the best possible way. This module allowed me to acknowledge that I had some gaps in relation to the class management, not only it enabled me to take into consideration my mistakes, but also reinforcing me about hoe to deal with this issues.

Regarding teacher preparation and lesson preparation, I learned that they are related to teacher`s knowledge, rapport, attitude, motivation and time management. For example, teacher` motivation toward the students must be as often as possible, because of this way the students actively participate, if the teacher establishes activities as much as possible, they will be exposed to receive more information, and along these lines they will learn too much. As far as practicable, I will be willing to give all the support to my student in order to keep them engaged in the activities planned. Another important thing is about the good relationship that I have to have to students; because when one establishes good rapport with them, it facilitates the learning process. To avoid confrontations into the classroom perhaps is one of the most important things we have to take into consideration. All teachers face with this problem every day, more common in public institutions when the teacher have to deal with around more than forty and forty-five teenagers in the same classroom. To deal with this fact, I have learned that it is much better to speak to the student after class in a discreet form, and asking him or her for the misbehavior and trying to solve, in this way I can focus on how this bad behavior can affect learning.

Another key concept that I learned in the classroom management module is how to teach under adverse circumstances. When I start to teach, I will find many adverse circumstances in which I will be to willing to face with

professionalism. I know that the most public educational institutions around Colombia consist of forty or fifty students inside a classroom, it is a great challenge for me actually, but it is not impossible to deal it. As time go by, I have to establish a set of clear rules that are relevant for keeping a good atmosphere not only inside the classroom, but also outside, and at the same time make students feel comfortable and important for me, so that is my responsibility to motivate them to learn a new language English language as a new way to communication, no matter if in the institution curricula when I could teach does not concern for fostering the communicative competence in its syllabus, I as a great teacher will have to look for creating methods or techniques that involve the teaching of the four skills adapted upon every lesson.

In general terms, I as a future teacher, I think my biggest challenge will be facing the real life environment, there I will apply all that I have learned throughout this module, I do not care if I have adversities, problems, or any situation I have to manage, the idea is to know how to deal with them. In short, this module has fostered in me a reflective attitude in terms of what I must do in the classroom, paying attention to the dynamics or teacher and students interaction.
