The ERL SCADA (Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition) Automation Solutions is a well established division of ERL that caters to Utility power sector as well as Industry sector. ERL SCADA Automation Solutions are viewed as one of the building blocks of smart grid and infuse intelligence into Control and Monitoring of Sub-Transmission and Distribution Stations remotely through various available communication media.
Data collection via the serial port, modem or Ethernet links, wireless devices data to other IT systems, databases and integration Export with third party ERP packages Integration with numerical protective relays communicating on open standard protocols like IEC 60870-5-103/ IEC 61850/ MODBUS TCP/IP etc
SYSTEM CONFIGURATION
The SCADA system is based on three-layer distributed open system architecture and consists of bay layer, station layer and network layer
Station Layer
Station layer comprises of a Master Station HMI based on Windows Operating System, Remote Terminal Unit, Substation Communication gateway, Report / Online Event printer and accessories. The master station HMI is linked via RTU and SCG over Ethernet LAN / VSAT to all the IEDs having fibre optic as
communication medium and with multi-function meters having twisted pair RS485 cable as communication medium.
Bay Layer
Bay layer includes measuring and control equipments which include the Multifunction Meters, Numerical Relays and other bay IEDs, Breaker / Isolator etc.
Centralized report management with comprehensive and accurate reporting with hourly, daily and weekly reports Human Machine Interface (HMI) Intuitive Management and SOE (online sequence of events Alarm recording) view/ printing with common time reference Advanced disturbance and event recording capabilities aiding in detailed electrical fault analysis
Network Layer
Network layer includes Remote Station HMI, to which data is sent via leased line, Fiber optic and other communication media Viz. GPRS/GSM/ ZigBee, Satellite communication.
SCADA SYSTEM
The SCADA system has distributed computing and networking facilities using client-server architecture, Ethernet & TCP/IP network protocol. It consists of a Operator cum Engineer workstation for dialogue between operator/ Engineer and the system through Normal Operator Commands (non-privileged) as well as privileged commands. The Normal Operator Commands include commands for display of single line diagram, trends, alarms, alarm acknowledgment, viewing of instantaneous and historical values of parameters. The privileged commands will require logging in via a password mechanism to avoid unauthorized access and are used for system configuration and reconfiguration by engineers.
Server
The Server is the center where the data of many sub-stations are acquired, processed, stored and transmitted. It also stores all types of historical data.
SCADA FEATURES
The system provides an economical way of delivering locally or remotely metering, monitoring, control, protection and recording functions to the different users in utilities and industries. This system is based on modern off-the-shelf technology and industry standard communication and browsing tools.
Hardware Platform:
PCs as workstations/servers 32 bit Industrial Servers server (N/W layer) 64 bit
Software Platform:
System: Windows NT/2000/XP Operating
Database: Oracle or MySQL Server
HMI Features:
The HMI features provide for an easy and efficient user interaction thus enabling effective control and monitoring of the various systems:
SYSTEM COMPONENTS
Operator's Station
The Operator's Station is the key human machine interface within a substation. It acquires, processes, displays and records all the information received by devices on bay level and transmits operators' instructions to the devices on bay level to fulfill the monitoring, control and administration on all the equipment in the substation while multiple application functions are integrated in the station.
Alarms
The user can define alarm conditions and specific instructions for the operator in the event of an alarm condition for every meter.
Alarms
Trending
Online trending for a selected parameter or multiple selections of meters can be viewed. The historical data stored in the database can also be retrieved by the user for multiples of meter hourly, daily, monthly and yearly
Load Trend
History Trend
Reporting
There is a strong MIS reporting software integrated to the HMI software. The reporting system allows the user to retrieve different kinds of reports according to the different functional groups in the organization. The data retrieval is time-bound at the user specified frequency intervals. Several reporting options are available to meet the customer requirements:
Log Report Report Energy Consumption Report Power Accounting Energy Loss Analysis Energy load of the system Peak Reports Outage Tripping Reports Log Reports Event Breakdown Reports Report Tamper
Additionally, the following features are available in the Reporting Module: Exporting facility to Microsoft Excel, Microsoft Word and PDF of data at user specified intervals Back-up 3D graphs (Line, Area, Pie, Bar etc.) 2D and
