Objective: This course will introduce you to Microsoft Windows Server 2003 through lectures, demonstrations, discussions, and hands-on lab exercises. Students will have the opportunity to install (and re-install) the OS on a stand-alone server and apply various configuration options to optimize security and enhance performance. Extensive time will be allocated to discussions on architecture, deployment, security, ADS, Group Policies, Internet Servers and Services, tuning and maintenance issues. Evaluation: Final grades are determined through a weighted average of midterm and final examinations, quizzes, laboratory assignments, homework assignments, class participation, and attendance. All quizzes are open book/computer on; using True/False and multiple choice format on Scantron # 882 . Scantron is available at SAC bookstore at a cost of $.14. Please come to class prepared with scantron and pencil #2 on test days. If you miss a quiz or exam, you MUST complete the missed quiz or exam at the TESTING CENTER (L-225; 564-6148) PRIOR to next class session. You will not be allowed to use your book or computer.

A second instance of cheating will result in a failing grade and an expulsion from class. Internet Policy While class is in session, no student will be allowed to surf the NET unless directed by the instructor. If a student is found to be in violation of this policy, he or she will be asked to leave the class for the entire session. Students will be required to sign the Standards of Conduct for Computer Classrooms and Computer Lab Form and return it to the instructor during the first session of class Important dates: Sept. 3, 2004: last day to drop and NOT receive a W grade.
