Possible side effects of medication

There are many different types of medication and possible side effects. Each person may react differently to the same type of medication, so it is not possible to predict every reaction. Some common side effects include:

drowsiness being less alert tiredness difficulty concentrating slurred or impaired speech mood swings tremors or shakes slowed reaction times decreased physical coordination.

If you are concerned about the possible side effects of your medication, discuss your concerns with your health professional. Everywhere in the world today medical experts and the general public are recognizing the limitations and hazards of the prevailing system of health care. This means that the knowledge and approaches being taught in conventional medical education are incomplete and even dangerous. Clear evidence of this incomplete knowledge is in the report that 100 million Americans, or nearly 40% of the population, suffer from chronic diseases, as reported in the November 1996 issue of the Journal of the American Medical Association. The greatest threats to health cardiovascular disease, cancer, other chronic diseases, accidents, and violence are caused or influenced by mental, behavioral, or environmental factors not effectively understood or addressed by modern medicine. An article in the April 1998 issue of the Journal of the American Medical Association stated that modern medical procedures are themselves one of the major causes of death in the United States. From the perspective of Maharishi Consciousness-Based Health Care, the failures of modern medicine are inevitable and result from one fundamental weakness: an isolated approach to knowledge and practice which fails to attend to the balance and integration of the physiology as a whole. The most striking failures of modern medicine are: 1. the inability to truly cure, which results in 40% of the American population suffering from a serious chronic disorder 2. adverse side effects, which result in 180,000 deaths per year 3. iatrogenic disease of epidemic proportions 4. escalating costs that prohibit many from seeking appropriate modern health care services 5. the failure to prevent disease and suffering

These failures are described in more detail where Maharishi Consciousness-Based Health Care is described as a new paradigm in the field of health. In contrast, Maharishi Consciousness-Based Health Care enlivens the inner intelligence of the physiology and restores the integration of this inner intelligence with the body to bring increasing balance to every aspect of health. This approach of Natural Law-based medicine is so comprehensive that treatment of any specific part promotes the health of the whole. The hazards of modern medicine have been documented in over 7,000 scientific articles published in the medical literature reporting the harmful and often fatal effects of drugs and other modern medical interventions. The number of MEDLINE articles mentioning side effects and adverse effects has been growing every year since 1990; see a chart and subject bibliography.
