Play Chess like a pro! Come over to make new friends, learn the

Groovy Guitar
Pamela will introduce each student to universal building blocks
of music through the fun of playing guitar. Students will discover
rhythm, melody and group playing dynamics.
Classes will also encourage students to solidify their skills, expand
their song repertoire, and gain lifelong confidence with the guitar.
We’ll get busy with the joy of learning songs, basic chords, sight
reading and all the rock and roll tools required to jam!

Gymnastics
This is a basic tumbling class in which children will learn skills
such as balance, forward rolls, backward rolls, handstands, cart-
wheels, and bridge. There will be some balance beam work.

Haitian Dance
Come study the culture of dance from Haiti. Learn steps from the
many dances that make up Haitian folklore as we work on cho-
reography. Learn to listen to and dance to live drum rhythms that
connect to each step danced. Learn the meanings of the dances
and the roots that they have to Africa. A warm-up and stretch will
start off each class, followed by dance instruction. Bring a bottle
of water with your name on it. Class will work on more intricate
choreography and patterning.

Karate
AmeriKick Karate (www.amerikick com) is a great way for kids to
learn self-discipline and confidence, develop coordination, and in-
crease strength and flexibility. Mr. Taylor’s assistant will be Nelson
Zuniga. Meets twice a week.

Mime
Children will develop their coordination, concentration and imagi-
nation as they learn the art of pantomime. They will learn how to
create illusions and develop characters through their physicality.
The workshop will culminate in final performance based on their
work in class. Classes will consist of a warm up followed by a
series of exercise and games designed to train the body and
foster imagination.

Photography
This class will give space for the children to use the camera as a
tool to explore how they see the world around them. Using simple
film cameras that will be available for the duration of the course,
the children will photograph one roll of film each week on their
own time. Together we will discuss the strongest of these images,
to create a body of images that give form to their feelings and
communicate about their relationships to their families, friends,
and communities. Every child will be encouraged to find his own
voice and to use photography as a mirror to reflect back his
personal vision. Materials fee $35.

Sculpture
By diving into a different abstract sculpture each session, young
people have fun and freedom learning how to make various styles
of abstract and contemporary art. They get to experience what it’s
like being a cutting edge artist making their work for the museums
of today. Even the most reluctant student makes wonderful
sculptures, toys, installations, costumes, and more, learning to
constructively express themselves.
