My Reflection
In Bob Ongs- Bakit Baliktad Magbasa ng Libro ang mga Pilipino Filipinos are those people who live in the country called Philippines. I lived in the Philippines, therefore I am a Filipino. I lived in a country with a lot of unique and vibrant culture. We have acquired this unique culture, from our native ancestors, from pre-colonial period until the American invasion. We are known to have a joyful and colourful culture like in fiestas and in any other events. But why other people laugh at us? Is there anything wrong with our culture? Or, they just only dont understand what our culture is because they didnt live in this country. After reading the Bakit baliktad magbasa ng Libro ang mga Pilipino? by Bob Ong, I became more aware of what we are doing as Filipinos. Im quite empress and quit disappointed of how we act. But I came to realize that, whether this is not sounds good to other people as long as I/we am happy of what we are doing, because this is us, and no one can change that. The book really influenced me in the things that I will do and the things that Ive done. It gives an impact of who I am and to thing Ive done. It made me more aware about the different issues that surround me and issues that affect me. As a student, and as a citizen of this country, I can contribute different things to our country, such as: I will properly sing and respect the National Anthem; I will be good in my studies because I still believe in what Dr. Rizal had said in La Juventud Filipina,the youth are the hope of this motherland; I will have to respect others beliefs and opinions so that they will respect mine too; I will be more faithful to God, because I believe that, as long as I am doing my own part all my problems will be solved; and lastly I will be proud that I AM A FILIPINO, not only by blood but also by heart. To my fellow youth, let us be aware of what happening around us, we should be a part in everything this country is implementing. We must be supportive in anything that you think is for the betterment of our motherland and avoid those which do not. We should let our personality be influenced by those people who has this so called crab-mentality, because this is also can help in our own development. Lets create a harmonious relationship with other races for us to have peace and attain progress. We should love our country and let make this place a better place to live.
