Ducks Unlimited Describe the leadership practices you would incorporate into this project.

I would incorporate the following leadership strategies: 1. Everyone Is Important Make sure everyone matters and that everyone knows it. Know your team and let your team get to know you. Greet people sincerely; reach out to everyone on your team. Make yourself available, listen to understand, communicate clearly, directly, and honestly. Stand up for the excluded, forget about the chain of command, dont micromanage, design your culture and treat your people as you would want your customers to be treated. 2. Break the Mold Be clear about whos responsible for what, Remember that responsibility and authority goes hand in hand, make every position count, get as flat as you can, eliminate overwork and rethink the meeting structure. Anyone can take responsibility for change, be prepared to take risks, expect resistance, dont try to win every battle, and youre never really done. 3. Make People Your Brand Define the perfect candidate, dont settle for a clone, look for good people in unlikely places, involve the team in the selection process, select by talent, find a good fit, hire people who are smarter and more talented than you, and describe the job completely. 4. Create Magic Through Training Give people a purpose, not just an assignment, take role as teacher seriously, become a coach, teach by example, teach the principles of great service, train people for magical moments, teach them how and where to spend their time, communicate constantly, give feedback immediately and effectively and prepare them for the unexpected. 5. Eliminate Hassles -Ask what rather than who, listen to your customers, learn whats working and whats not, constantly query employees, try an audit exchange plan think ahead, expect resistance and evaluate the changes you make. 6. Learn the Truth get out and about routinely, get a ground-level view, meet regularly with direct reports, assemble small groups, make them feel safe, answer the tough questions, get formal feedback about yourself, constantly evaluate your spending 7. Burn the Free Fuel spend meaningful time with employees, recognize employees by name, catch them doing something right, make it public, include their families, recognize and encourage good ideas, watch your language, 8. Stay Ahead of the Pack be a knowledge sponge, fill in your gaps, master business fundamentals, learn from the best, learn from your competitors, keep up with your colleagues, study your customer base, follow the compass, expand your horizons, keep the people you lead ahead of the pack 9. Be Careful What You Say and Do demonstrate a passionate commitment to your role, do what it takes to get the job done, set high standards, have a positive attitude, look and carry

yourself like a professional, model personal ownership, dont lose your sense of humor, be a great partner, stay humble 10. Develop Character anticipate ethical dilemmas, live your values, train for character, not just skill, and teach your values. Explain how you would maintain the highest level of ethics during the execution of this project. I would maintain the highest level of ethics during this project by using core values: 1. Being honest deal with one another in a straightforward manner, always tell the truth 2. Having integrity act in a manner consistent with our words and beliefs 3. Respect treat others with care and consideration 4. Courage pursue our beliefs with strength and perseverance, stand up for whats right 5. Openness share information freely 6. Diversity seek, value, and respect differences among our team 7. Balance- strive for stability and vitality in our lives Always remember that as a leader the level of ethics I portray rests on the strength of my character and whether strong or weak will be the legacy I leave behind. Create and describe a process for measuring the progress of this project. I would use the cost/schedule model to measure the progress of this project because it will allow for the current and future status of the project. The cost /schedule model consists of: 1. Measuring accomplishments against plan and deliverables 2. Provides a method for tracking directly to a problem work package and organization unit responsible

3. Alerts all stake holders to early identification of problems, and allows for quick, proactive corrective action 4. Improves communication because all stakeholders are using the same database 5. Keeps customer informed of progress, and encourages customer confidence that the money spent is resulting in the expected progress 6. Provides for accountability over individual portions of the overall budget for each organizational unit. Explain how you would coordinate project closure: I would coordinate project closure by having answers to these questions: What tasks are required to close the project? Who will be responsible for these tasks? When will closure begin and end? How will the project be delivered? Closure will also include the following activities: Getting delivery acceptance from the customer. Shutting down resources and releasing to new uses. Reassigning project team members. Closing accounts and seeing all bills are paid. Evaluating the project team, project team members, and the project manager. This process will be done in a timely manner to avoid any additional cost. It will be planned and orderly. Explain what steps you would take to determine the effectiveness of this project. A project audit should be done to determine the effectiveness of this project. The audit

should concentrate on problems, issues, and successes and avoid references to groups or individuals. Audits will help in improving the way projects is managed in the future. Audits recognizes the mistakes made and managers can learn from the mistakes and what contributes to projects being successful. The sole purpose of an audit is to improve. References Cockerell, Lee.
