Link from where you got your information from Please make sure you answer all question GREENHOUSE EFFECT AND ITS WORKING Greenhouse effect means some gases trap some infrared radiation coming from sun,making the earth warmer.The gases which provide this effect are called greenhouse gases.There are two meanings of greenhouse effect.One is natural greenhouse effect which keeps earth temperature warm and habitable and other is man made greenhouse effect which rises the temperature of earth. We can understand greenhouse gases working as sort of blanket for radiation-it keeps the lower layers of our atmosphere warmer and the upper layers colder.

MAIN GREENHOUSE GASES The greenhouse gases including water vapour (H2O),ozone (O3),carbon dioxide (CO2),and methane (CH4).Also some traces of chloro-floro (CFC) may have very dangerous effects. Carbon dioxide has the largest at 360ppm while methane concentration is much less at 1.65 ppm, but it is 20 to 30 times as effective as an IR absorber .Chlorofloro carbons have concentration only 10 20 ppt but they are 10,000 times as effective at IR absorber.

INCREASING LEVEL OF CARBON DIOXIDE, why ? Present level of carbon dioxide is about 385 ppm. From 1860 to 1994 its level increased from 280 ppm to 350 ppm. In 1990 it was observed , the rate of co2 was increasing at the rate of 0.4 % per year. The current analysis suggests that the combustion of fossil fuels and industrialization are the main contributer to the increase in the carbon dioxide concentration. Its is 2 to 5 times more effective of deforestation. Industrialization is the main reason behind its concentration can be proved as that Greenland ice sheet indicates concentration of 270 ppm in preindustrial times.so 1860 is that time when industrialization starts.

PREDICTION ABOUT ENVIRONMENT DAMAGE There are some areas rich in water now but if greenhouse gases effect has been going on at this rate , the supply and demand of water balance can be affected and we will face flood in rainy areas and drought in dry areas. Our ecology system will be affected most.the earth temperature goes on ,the sea level will rise up

and the ice of glaciers will melt up.

The greenhouse effect causes hot and long summer.during such season,the mortality rate rises too.there are some more fear that chemical smog increases more environmental pollution such as contamination of water and air.

NEED OF HOUR According to Stones paper, as the international community meets in Copenhagon in December to develop a new framework for responding to climate change,policymakers need to give serious consideration to broadening the range of management strategies beyond greenhouse gas reduction alone. According to new researches, reducing the rate of greenhouse gases is not ultimate solution but slowing the rate of forest loss around the world and regenerating forest where lost , could significantly slow the global warming
