Is God an infidel? What a dumb thought to ask one might say.

With a title like that, some of you might actually wonder at first glance whether I have backslidden, "denied the faith" and have stepped off into a slew of all kinds of damnable heresies. I assure you that I have not, so bear with me and I promise you that by the end of this writing, I will have explained to you the total reason as to why I pose such a seemingly ridiculous thought. Let's see. Where do I start. Ok here we go. God Plays By His Own Rules I believe that God plays by his own rules. The rules are His Word. His Word is His bond. His Word is who He is. John 1:1 states: In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. Everything that he declares in His Word is a reflection of His total value system. He is absolute 100% pure truth. He is who He is because that is who He is and He is totally confident in who He is. He is so confident in who He is that he had no problem telling Moses who He was in Exodus 3:13-14: And Moses said unto God, Behold, when I come unto the children of Israel, and shall say unto them, The God of your fathers hath sent me unto you; and they shall say to me, What is his name? what shall I say unto them? And God said unto Moses, I AM THAT I AM: and he said, Thus shalt thou say unto the children of Israel, I AM hath sent me unto you. To call yourself something like I AM is either arrogant or its the truth. If your going to call yourself something like I AM , you better be able to back that up. If you cant back that up, youd better sit down, shut up and go back to being Larry, Moe or Curly or whatever your real name is. But if you can back up being I AM as God is referred to in His Word, well, like Ive heard someone exclaim before, "It aint braggin if you can do it". God Doesnt Live By A Double Standard God doesnt live by a double standard. I used to have a supervisor at a place I once worked who sat at the top of a tower in the middle of the building. He would overlook the entire building from his desk and would bark out orders at people over the intercom when he would see them get out of line. That job kind

of had a prison feel to it. God's not like that. He is not as the mythical gods of Rome and Greece whose sorry lives were just as decadent and wicked as those who worshiped and honored them. He is not a being who has one standard for Himself and another for all of those who are under subjection to Him. He is not the father who openly drinks alcohol and smokes cigarettes in front his family but beats his children when he catches them behind the barn doing the very same act. He is not the father who lies and cheats his way through life while he punishes his children for stealing from the candy store. He is not the father who holds onto every bit of bitterness against everyone whom he ever thought wronged him only to wonder why his children want nothing to do with him because they too are bitter. No, God is who He is and who He is, is His Word. Based upon this truth,I submit to you that there is not a phrase in His Word that He has ever spoken, not one jot or tittle as the King James aptly puts it, that He does not abide by because he is who He is in His Word. He plays by His rules. His Word is who He is and we need Him to be who He is lest this world utterly destroys itself without His participation in the lives of its inhabitants. We just cant make it without him. Based upon this truth that God is who He is in His Word and that He plays by the same rules that He expects of you and I, I want to develop a thought that I pray will take hold of you for the rest of your life. I pray that this thought will bring you to a faith strengthening point in your life that will close the door of unbelief to the areas in your life that were such a struggle in the past. So here is the thought. Is God an Infidel? There is such a temptation in this world to doubt God. To doubt his existence. To doubt His character. To doubt His love for us. To doubt that he really cares about the specific things in our lives. Hollywood sometimes portrays Him as a gambler who shuffles our lives like cards or plays games with us like we are Monopoly pieces. It portrays God as one who has no problem dealing us away like cards or moving us around on some type of celestial game board. Our adversary would love for everyone in this world to believe that we are nothing more than pawns on a giant chess board that are being moved to and fro by a bored, unconcerned entity who pulls us from a deck and discards us at His pleasure. God is so far removed from that false portrait of who He is. Some time ago, the Lord challenged me with an undeniable impartation of the truth of who He is. He spoke to me from 1 Timothy 5:8 where it states that: But if any provide not for his own, and specially for those of his own house, he hath denied the faith, and is worse than an infidel. He challenged me with these three thoughts: 1. Does God play by His own rules? 2. Are you a part of My household? 3. If I always play by My own rules and you are part of My household and I do not provide for all of your needs then I have denied the faith (Who I am) and I am worse than an infidel. Now remember that God plays by His own rules and that he asks nothing of us that he wouldnt require of Himself. Although this verse of scripture (1 Tim :8) speaks to those who dont take care of their families, it also applies to God. It is His standard as well. If you have come to a saving faith in the Lord Jesus Christ as your Savior then you are part of His household. Greater than that, you have become his child. To deny your needs would be as he puts it in his Word, denying the faith. Imagine that if you can. God denying the faith? It is unimaginable. It is preposterous. It could never happen. For God to deny the faith is for him to deny Himself which His Word says can never happen. Second Timothy 2:13 declares: If we believe not, yet he abideth faithful: He cannot deny himself . We are part of Himself if we are in Him. If you are part of His household, God has taken your complete cause upon himself. Your needs are now His responsibility. Your needs have now really become His needs. It is impossible for Him to fail you. Even if you do not see a way out at this time, He will move heaven and earth for you to provide for you needs. He is who He is and he cannot deny Himself. Ever!! He has chosen in your favor and he does not

waiver on that decision. He is not sorry either. He is glad that he chose you. You are his prized possession. He chose you and never looked back. He is completely decisive in everything that he does. He doesnt make decisions only to look back and make second guesses about His decision. To do that would be contrary to His playing by His rules. Remember what he said in Luke 9:62: And Jesus said unto him, No man, having put his hand to the plough, and looking back, is fit for the kingdom of God. For God to look back on His decision to adopt you into His Kingdom would make Him unfit for His own kingdom! What a ridiculous thought and yet sometimes God uses extreme thinking to hammer home truth that could not be delivered by any other means of distribution. In closing, we know that God is not an infidel and Hes certainly not unfit for His own kingdom. He is perfect in every way. He loves you with a perfect love. I pray that your faith in Him will be strengthened to know that it is impossible for even one need of His household to go unmet. To do so is against everything that he is and he is I AM THAT I AM and that can never change. In Jesus Name. Amen.
