I founded Toya E. Ent. Aug. of 2010. I went into promotional modeling by myself. I took a step out on fate, and haven't looked back yet. One of my motivational motto's I replay in my head daily is: "The sky's the limit." It keeps me to keep working hard towards my self set goals. I'm heavily involved in giving back, so once every few months, I hold a free one-week model training class, for youth ages 2-17 years of age. During the training, the youth are taught the basics of modeling, posture, do's and don'ts of modeling on the runway and behind the scenes. Any event that I do, if possible, I try to include my children in it as well. My children are very fond of the camera, and my daughter loves the runway. Also, they love to meet new people as well. Maintaining a happy relationship while being a businesswoman, isn't easy at all. But with a lot of Trust, understanding, and support from him, we make it work. As with my children, my spouse is heavily involved with my business. I love his opinion, and that he is secure with himself. Communication is the key to making any relationship work. Also, he loves to see me handling business. Toya E. is available for: Hosting, promoting any event, or to model in a video, fashion or a rip da runway show. Facebook @ BlueMajikmodel

Ladies, we have all had a "Mr. Right" in our lives, but it rarely ends like on television -- with him declaring his undying love for us underneath the night sky in Paris. But even if you do get the guy, it does not guarantee him opening up to you or becoming emotionally available once the wedding is over. It's unfair to put all the blame on men, though; there are just as many emotionally unavailable women who want to remain focused on their careers, needs and wants, and cannot be bothered by giving any particular relationship their all. So what's the deal with emotionally unavailable people? Find out why some people are emotionally unavailable and how to deal with someone who has difficulty expressing emotions. Characteristics of an Emotionally Unavailable Person

werent bad enough, those who suffer from this inability also have to deal with a painful and ironic twist of fate: emotionally unavailable people usually want a connection the most, but are too afraid to establish one. Mister Blue, a dialetical behavioral therapist, believes that the core issue for emotionally unavailable people is intimacy, and the problem can usually be traced back to painful or problematic experiences with a family member. Being emotionally close with another person is synonymous to being smothered or losing themselves," Mister Blue said. "It's a way to avoid their ultimate fear of allowing someone in, allowing someone to get to know them - and then having that person reject them or abuse their trust.

Dont be fooled, however. Not all emotionally unavailable people are life-long bachelors or bacheloThe main characteristic that both men and women rettes. Why People are Attracted to Emotionally Unavailable Partners Why would any sane person stay in this type of relationship? Often, the spouse of an emotionally unavailable person has complicated emotional problems of his or her own. Their reasons vary, from having low selfesteem to childhood trauma that led them to believe they do not deserve good things in life. Courtney McDermid, a unofficial relationship expert in the Charlotte area, unofficially counsels couples regarding intimacy issues.

feeling unfulfilled and unloved. If youre married to an emotionally unavailable person, you should always consider marriage counseling before you make the final decision of separating or getting a divorce, McDermid said. "Ive seen marriage counseling be very beneficial to people with these kinds of problems.

In marriage counseling, when each person expresses his or her thoughts and feelings about the relationship in front of a trained professional whose job it is to remain objective, new light is shed on the problems in the marriage. If you make it clear to your partner that your feelings for him or her are sincere and that you want to attend counseling to improve your relationship - and your mate rejects your advances to fix the relationship - you should consider yourself lucky. You are learning in advance, before marriage or children, that this person is not ready to change his or her lifestyle to make you, or anyone else, feel loved and cared for. Whether you're making your way back into the single life, want to be more comfortable talking to potential suitors, or just need to add some spice to your relationship, a few simple flirting tips should put you on the road to romance this summer. Although many people and websites make flirting sound like a sophisticated art, flirting tips are just a guide to help break the ice, loosen up a bit and maybe even be a little suggestive. Dont forget that most guys don't read body language and "signs" as much as women do. While it may feel as though you are giving clear signals, he may not be interpreting them. Just remember that guys dont always pick up on subtlety; he may simply be missing out on the reason you are always so friendly.

Here are 10 simple tips to make flirting a success: 1. Make it fun. Dont put pressure on yourself to go up to someone at a party, social event, or anywhere else with the idea that you are going to impress him or get him to ask you out. Many men approach women with the goal of getting their phone number but this doesnt make a whole lot of sense, either. Just because someone looks great doesnt mean they are great. Make the goal be the flirting, and let it be fun. 2. Dont forget to smile. Not only does smiling make you look more attractive, it gives you that twinkle in your eye and it makes you and anyone you are smiling at feel relaxed. 3. Make eye contact. Of course, there is a difference between making eye contact and staring. You certainly do not want to stare at the person you are flirtGeeChee One Magazine ing with; you simply want him or her to be aware that you are noticing, and noting this person's words and actions. Studies have shown that strangers of the opposite sex feel some sort of connection after staring at each other directly in the eye. You can use this anomaly to your advantage. Just look the person you are flirting with directly in the eye and make him or her feel more connected to you. 4. Dont be afraid to initiate a conversation. Guys love it when women initiate a conversation. Guys get just as nervous and worked up as women when it comes to flirting and meeting new people, so guys appreciate and notice the rare occasion when a woman makes the first move. This is especially effective after there has been across-the-room eye contact. Page 8

5. Dont take yourself too seriously. It's a great characteristic to have a sense of humor. It shows a lot of character when you are able to laugh at yourself. Also, that cute guy you have pulled aside wont feel he's under a microscope if you show that you have a sense of humor. Besides, who doesnt love to laugh? 6. Pay attention to how you look before going into a potential flirting situation. Men are much more visual than women and may be more tempted by outer beauty. By paying attention to your appearance and using these flirting tips you should be able to attract the attention of any guy in the room. Of course, you should dress appropriately for whatever setting you are in, but paying attention to the small details of your appearance should get you noticed. 7. Get into situations where you can flirt. It doesn't matter how well you master these flirting tips if your life revolves around reality TV and enjoying your hermitage. Find a way to meet people who are your type. 8. Ask questions. Everyone loves to talk about themselves, and asking open-ended questions provides an easy way for others to open up and for you to find out more about the person. The question-asking should be balanced, though. The conversation should not turn into an interview. 9. Dont underestimate the power of body language. Experts estimate that 85% of communication is non-verbal. If you do not believe this, you should try muting your television and flipping

through the channels for a minute or two. You will probably get the idea of what is happening on every show without hearing a single word. Considering this, you cannot afford to overlook the power of body language. There are a lot of movements and gestures to indicate you are interested in the person you're talking to. Playing with your hair or biting your bottom lip are attractive gestures to guys and give them encouragement, whether they realize it or not. Standing or sitting a little closer to the other person can change the dynamic of the conversation. Looking over your shoulder and making eye contact with a guy is another way to let him know you are interested, as well as checking to see if he is enjoying the view. A light touch on the forearm or shoulder can be a big move forward for a guy. Keep in mind that in western society, it is typically more acceptable for women to hug and touch than men. For this reason, a subtle touch to the forearm will get most guys attention. 10. Be confident. The other nine flirting tips require confidence, and confidence is extremely attractive. Being confident means being secure with whom you are. Having confidence allows you to be more relaxed when you encounter someone you want to flirt with. With these ten flirting tips, you should be prepared to jump in, have fun and meet someone new this summer. Of course, you will want to adapt these flirting tips to your personality. Just remember to be yourself, and you'll be sure to bump into the person your dreams sooner or later.

Men 1. Prostate Prostate cancer is a disease which only affects men. Cancer begins to grow in the prostate - a gland in the male reproductive system. Prostate cancer is mostly a very slow progressing disease. In fact, many men die of old age, without ever knowing they had prostate cancer - it is only when an autopsy is done that doctors know it was there. Several studies have indicated that perhaps about 80% of all men in their eighties had prostate cancer when they died, but nobody knew, not even the doctor. 2. Lung

A malignant tumor is a group of cancer cells that can grow into (invade) surrounding tissues or spread (metastasize) to distant areas of the body. The disease occurs almost entirely in women, but men can get it, too. In the United States, it is estimated that approximately 40,000 women will die from breast cancer. Even though, older women are more likely to get breast cancer, younger women are more likely to die from it. This might be due to younger women

#1 THE FOLLOWER Have you ever notice that a particular person keeps popping everywhere you are. This morning you notice them while you was coming out your house. Youre thinking that maybe they live close by or they are visiting friends, and you dont pay them any mind. Then you run into them again at the gas station on the other side of the town, (not even getting gas). You think to yourself Are they following me? Now youre at work, and they pop up again!! They just might be really stalking you.

#3 THE DISTANCE CO-WORKER After being asked several times by a particular coworker you decide to go to lunch with them. At lunch they start telling you that they were happy to be working with you for x amount of years. Then they start telling you details about what you normally eat for lunch, and explains an actual description of the actual outfits you wore on certain days of the week. There is a chance that they are a stalker. #4 SOCIAL NETWORK STALKER You have to be careful when you post and tweet your everyday norms on these social networks. You notice that one particular person is always on your page. No matter what you post they have a comment. They seem to always know when you are online, and you happen to notice that all your friends are now their new face book friends. #5 THE EVERYDAY HATER STALKER Dont act like you dont have a few in your life. No matter if you are online, in the streets, at school, or at work, this one particular person who goes out their way to talk mad crap about you. Its bad that they talk about you all day to their friends, but they also happen to go around your family, friends, or co-workers to make sure that you know that they are a HATER! Page 15

#2 THE NON STOP CALLER You happen to meet someone who you actually think is cute at the moment, and give them your number. They all you, but after a while you are not interested in them. At first you stop answering their calls, thinking maybe they get the hint. Then they start texting you all day in between the calls. After a while you decide to change your number. You then have a peace for a few days before they either somehow get your number from lying to your co-worker or friend. This is a move of a stalker!! GeeChee One Magazine

In my family, I happen to be the oldest of all my siblings. On the opposite end of the spectrum from me is my kid brother who just recently graduated from high school. Let me tell you about this character. As a star athlete, my little brother was one of the most popular kids in his high school. And the fact that he can dance like Chris Brown and Usher all but secured his permanent status among the "cool kids" and guaranteed his inclusion at all the parties where "anybody who's anybody" was sure to be in attendance. In short, he was your quintessential teenager living the American dream. Similarly, his entourage of young men and young women were equally as popular and successful in the high school universe. All of them, including my brother, can recite the lyrics of the latest Drake or Nicki Minaj song at the drop of a dime and will argue with you to no end as to why they are the greatest rappers of all time. In addition to music, all of them, including my brother, have all the latest gadgetry when it comes to electronic communication tools. Blackberries and iPhones come standard issue with this group, and each device is, of course, equipped with the most current software applications for Facebook, Twitter, Blackberry messenger, AOL instant messenger, text messaging, etc. You name it, they've got it.

If a kid so much as picked his nose in the back of Mr. Wilson's math class at 10:16am, by 10:17am 1500 other kids all over the school had status updates and live stream video of the same event. This generation's rapid adaptation and instant utilization of state of the art communication devices and electronic media is arguably unparalleled by any prior generation in American history. There's just one minor problem for my kid brother and his generation of IDK LOL OMG bandits: these kids can't f***ing read!!! Don't get me wrong, of course they can literally "read," but it's more like "reading" in the sense that somebody who can type the letters "IDK my BFF Jill" can "read." If you tried to push them for actual coherent sentences with a noun and verb then Houston, we've got a problem. At first I thought it was only my kid brother who had trouble with reading and writing at a high school graduate level, but then I started looking at his facebook wall and I quickly saw that he was not alone:
Kid A: "That sho was wacc foo." [she's trying to say "That show was wack, fool." I can let the "foo" slide but how do you misspell "Wack"??? That means you can't even get your insults right.]

GeeChee One Magazine

www.geecheeone.com

Page

22

Kid B: "Ha ha, sho was what u up to?" [this kid's trying to respond to Kid A with "Haha, it sure was. What are you up to?" Notice there is no period at the end of the first thought. Just one run-on stream of communication. Very common.] Kid A: "Jus chillin tell i go to the mall." ["Just chillin' until I go to the mall."] Kid C: "U2 don't no nothin about the mall." ["You two don't know anything about the mall."] Kid A: "No U don't no nothing about the mall!" ["No, you don't know anything about the mall!" Sometimes you can have a brain fart and use the word "no" when you meant to type "know" but this kid particularly bothered me because she used the incorrect usage immediately after she used the correct usage, indicating that in all likelihood she is probably unaware of when to use the word "know" at all] Kid B: "haha, ur both wacc." ["Haha, you're both wack." Again, they're killing me with this "wacc" business.]

the ability to form complete sentences. And for many of the young Black youth who are already at a disadvantage from under resourced schools and lack of educational encouragement in the home, it is particularly damaging. This isn't to say that Facebook, Blackberry messenger, Twitter, etc. don't have their purpose. Of course they do. But keep in mind, when all these quick communication tools were developed, they were originally aimed at helping to provide a quick means of communication for those of us who were already educated with regard to formal communication. Naturally, we would never use shorthand "IDK's" or "NVM"s in our professional communications with clients or bosses or in our final exams to our professors. We know when to turn it off. These kids don't. And the more technology advances, the easier it is for them to fall into this trap.

For fear of sounding like a "back in my day we walked uphill to school both ways" speech, I'll refrain from the condescending generational comparisons. Besides, knowing how to speak the King's English has less to do with one's generation and more to do with proper parenting and schooling. From that standpoint, I have to place a majority of the blame for my brother's shortcomings squarely on myself; I've been away from home for some time but there's no reason why I should have a bachelor's degree and a law degree and my own kid brother is struggling to read at a junior high/ middle school level after having graduated from high school. (I would go in on the school system but that's another post for another day) I will say, however, that one thing I've noticed about my brother's class is that they're all about the instant messaging. Their communications with each other are limited to 140 characters or less. That's cool if you already know how to read and write on an adult level, but if that's ALL that you know then that kind of limited interaction doesn't exactly develop critical thinking, let alone

Fortunately, my kid brother has a family who actually gives a damn about whether or not he is reading and writing at an adult level, but I know that there are plenty of families out there who don't. That's why it is incumbent upon us, as a community, to really start taking an active role in making sure that our youth are being educated properly, especially in something as fundamental as knowing how to read and write. In this new era, we can no longer sit back and assume that the schools will take care of everything. They can not and they are not. These new millennium kids are going to require the whole village. I'm not saying that you have to quit your day job and go volunteer full time down at the Y, but certainly we can all make a conscience effort to do our own part: talk to the youngsters in your family more often; make them write you on a regular basis; when they do write, make them write out actual e-mail messages as opposed to short text messages; don't allow them to use shorthand with you; ask them what they're learning in school; encourage them to aim higher and do better...because, contrary to popular belief, there is no app for that. "Emulate drug dealers. Make your product so good, so addictive, so cant miss, that giving customers a small, free taste gets them coming back with cash in hand.

This message can be made an example by two giants of their prospective profiteering endeavors... Frank Lucas, the inventor of Blue Magic heroin in the 70's as depicted in the movie "American Gangster", and Starbucks, our countrys top retailer of caffeinated energy in a cup. Though only one of these substances is illegal, both organizations used product and marketing to develop a uniquely loyal following.
1. If You Dont Have a Competitive Advantage, Dont Compete

In the case of Frank Lucas, the value proposition for his Blue Magic was that it was THE ONLY 100% pure heroin on the market. All the other dealers cut down their product at each step of the value chain, resulting in a 1-5% concentration by the time it got to an end user. That meant that the first time a user tried Blue Magic, perhaps as a free sample, he or she was immediately able to tell the difference and often became immediately addicted and loyal. Other dealers competed on price or distribution networks, but Blue Magic was competing on quality and became synonymous with the best product on the street, making Frank Lucas a lot of money very quickly. Can you articulate your competitive advantage?

2. Sell the Most Product for the Most Money AKA Versionize and Maximize!

Whether you sell heroin or coffee, each sale has the actual cost of goods as well as any transactional costs involved in making the sale. What drug dealers learned, based on a very high and risky transactional cost, is that selling a larger volume at a discount made customers extremely loyal. They felt spoiled and didnt want to work with any other dealers. So dealers figured out their own versioning mechanisms to capture the most possible market share across all users while also selling more at the high end.

Starbucks on the other hand, took the standard coffee shop's endless cup of coffee and married it to small, medium, and large, yielding the often reviled but stupendously profitable short, tall, grande, venti, and the recent trenta options. When you go to Starbucks, which size do you buy? I dont think Ive ever purchased and rarely seen anyone else buy the short and espresso doesnt count. Although the transaction costs are all the same, by selling more of the larger sizes, Starbucks is able to generate more sales across a wider spectrum and likely gets more high-profit sales than if they just sold just one version. Most businesses can benefit from versioning, does yours?

3. Dont Dilute Your Product... Your Brand Will Suffer

As Franks heroin business grew, he needed to develop a large network of resellers, or dealers. One particular dealer, Nicky Barnes, started buying Blue Magic and cutting it down to lower concentrations and charging the going rate for Blue Magic. Frank started to hear about an explosion of Blue Magic on the market and learned that it was getting a bad rap for inconsistency. He confronted Nicky, resulting in a new product, Red Magic. Frank was not going to let anyone destroy his competitive advantage by diluting the product. Across most types of businesses, this holds true. In fact, a Consumer Reports survey found that 75% of shoppers surveyed said they have noticed smaller package sizes and 71% of shoppers believe brands are hiding price increases with smaller sizes. So if you find yourself saying a customer will never notice, chances are they will. At the end of American Gangster, Frank gets caught, rightly. But Starbucks is still making plenty of money. So I dont suggest going out and seeking a real, live dealer to learn from, but I do think we can learn applicable business lessons in the most unexpected places.

WHAT DIFFERENT CAN SHOTYME BRING TO CHARLESTONS NIGHT LIFE? We are trying to bring a different type of flavor in Charleston. We plan to this by trying to set our own trends and let our employees and staff be different. When you walk into Shotyme, we always greet with a smile and set a good environment. Our guests always tell us how they love to be there and how well the bartenders and my staff are. CAN YOU TELL US WHAT ELSE COMMUNITY WISE SHOTYME IS PROVIDING TO THE CHUCK?? YOU COME WITH THE NAME BOSS LADY? My staff gave me that name. Since day one they been calling me boss lady. WHAT FUTURE EVENTS CAN OUR READERS LOOK FOR AT SHOTYME? We have several events coming up. Our biggest thing is our anniversary weekend. Every night from Thursday, July 7th to that Sunday, there going to be a party. AS A MARRIED COUPLE THAT HAS BOTH HANDS IN THE BUSINESS, HOW DO YOU BOTH MAINTAIN? First and foremost we trust in God. Secondly we know how to draw the line, and yes it is a fine line between partnership and marriage. We just have an good balance. We're human so yes we butt heads often, all partners do, but trust when we walk out ShoTyme doors, I'm the apple of his eyes and he is the love of my life. BEFORE SHOTYME WHAT WAS YOU & YOUR HUSBAND'S OCCUPATION? I was a Senior Staffing Coordinator/ Operations Manager for the last 13 years at an Staffing agency in Charleston. My husband and I also own a construction company, called Simple Fix of Charleston. WHAT DO YOU THINK IS THE BIGGEST FLAW SOMEONE MAY FEEL YOU HAVE? Many people question my presents, meaning why I can't sit still. And the reason is I'm very hands on with my business. I mingle with my customers, you will never walk in Sho Tyme and see me chilling. I walk my floors all nite, or I'm behind my bar serving my customers. So its not that I want to be seen, it's that I work hard, and I'm going to work even harder to be the best. Point blank. DO YOU FEEL THAT YOU MAY BE IN COMPETITION WITH OTHER NIGHT CLUBS? I am secure in my own circle; no other bar is a competition. We all have things different to make us unique. ARE YOU CURRENTLY LOOKING FOR HELP? We are not hiring. My staff is great. Each bartender brings something different, and they really have my back. I have a good staff. DO YOU EVER HAVE A CHANCE TO VISIT OTHER GeeChee One Magazine ESTABLISHMENTS? I try to go and show love at other clubs and places. We want to DJ BossHogg party at East Cooper Disco. You can almost always find me behind the bar. Im hands on at my bar, when I walk in I go straight to the bar. If they bartenders, can do it I can do it too. You can always find me behind the bar, in the kitchen, or pulling trash. Im always doing something. CAN YOU TELL US A LITTLE ABOUT YOUR MARRIAGE? Quincy and I have been married for 5 years. We known each other for 13 years. We are both from North Charleston. I have 4 kids from ages 14-1. Our hobbies include traveling to the country.
