CHAPTER 1 - Bored in the beautiful garden

One day in a small town, two children, Aman and Khushi, were standing outside their house. Aman and Khushi were bored as they had nothing interesting to do. They were moving restlessly here and there.

Their grandfather saw them and said, Hey kids! What happened? I have come to visit you and spend time with you but you look so bored? What is the matter? Khushi said complaining, Yes Grandfather! There is nothing new to do. Aman said restlessly, We are getting bored now.

Grandfather said, I see! While coming here I saw a new park that has recently come up in our neighbourhood. Why dont you go to the park? You will enjoy there. Khushi got excited and said, Yes, yes great idea. Let us go there, brother.

Aman and Khushi hurriedly went to the park and started roaming around the park.

After searching around the park for a long time, Aman said in a frustrated voice, What kind of park is this? There are no slides here. Khushi agreed and said with disappointment, No swing no see-saw! What do we do here? Let us go back home.

Suddenly, they heard the laughter of a girl. They looked here and there to see who was laughing. A pretty girl was sitting on the bench and laughing. Aman said, pointing towards the girl, Hey! You are the girl who performs in the Gemini theatre show? Correct. You are so good at it. CHAPTER 2 - The memorable magic show

Aman remembered the show he had seen earlier. The show flashes back in Amans mind. A magician was standing with a joker named Hasmukh on the stage. The magician bowed in front of the audience and said, Thank you. Let us see some Magic!!!! Hansmukh - Can you hit this target precisely?

The magician hit the target (a dart board) hanging on the wall with the mallet.

The joker tried to hit the dart board with a dart with open eyes.

But he missed the target badly. Instead, the dart went very near the magician.

Magician said in a comic way, Uff what a narrow escape. Hansmukh, Good you are not in our national shooting team. I dont know what would have happened. The audience laughed, Ha Ha Ha Haa. Magician pointing towards to the side of the stage, said, But we cannot give up. Lets give another try. Asha, can you come in and give a try.

A girl walked on the stage blind-folded. She stood in the centre of the stage facing audience.

The magician again hit the mallet again on the target.

The blindfolded girl turned towards the target.

She threw the dart with the blindfold covering the eyes and hit the target - precisely not just once but thrice. The girl then removed the blindfold and bowed in front of the audience. The people started applauding such an impeccable performance. Aman came back from his memories and walked towards the girl. Khushi followed him. CHAPTER 3 - Coming close to the nature

Aman and Khushi then sat next to the girl one on each side of the girl. Aman looked at the girl and said, Hello friend, what is your name? How come you are laughing alone? The girl gave a serene smile and said, My name is Asha. I come to this park every day. It is so much fun here.

Khushi was shocked to hear this and asked, What! We were getting bored here. And you say it is fun. What do you enjoy here? Asha said in an excited voice, Everything!! It is so beautiful here. Cant you feel it? The cold evening breeze is softly touching my cheeks. The gust of winds is blowing my hair. It feels so good. Why dont you try it?

The wind was blowing the leaves of the near by trees. Both Khushi and Aman tried to feel the cool breeze by closing their eyes and felt good. Khushi smiled and said, Yes, I can feel it now its so nice!!

A gardener was watering the plants nearby. The girl took a deep breath and said, Can you smell the fresh fragrance of the green grass of the summer? It is so good.

Aman, Khushi also took deep breathe closing their eyes. Aman smiled in approval and said Yes it smells so good. Strangely, I never ever realized this before. Asha put a finger on her lips to signal to be quiet and whispered, Shhh!!!! Can you hear the sweet song of the bird?

They sat silently and heard the chirping of the bird sitting on a nearby tree. Asha moved her head in direction of the chirping bird and said, It is a cuckoo bird. Let us call it.

Asha called the bird, imitating the cuckoo voice, Coo Coo. And the cuckoo bird replied in the same way, Coo Coo. Aman looked at the Asha and said, Wow! The cuckoo is talking to you. Let me also try this.

Aman is SMART, Aman said in a funny way imitating cuckoo bird. Asha replied in the same funny tone (on behalf of cuckoo bird), Aman is SMART. Aman said, Aman is INTELLIGENT. Asha replied in same funny way, Aman is INTELLIGENT. Aman is the SUPER-STAR, said Aman. Asha again replied, Aman is the SUPER-STAR. All three kids laughed together after their silly joke, Ha Ha Ha. CHAPTER 4 The narrow escape

While sitting on the bench, Aman said, Hey look, theres the guava tree. Guavas are lying all over the ground. Let us eat it. Aman walked to a nearby tree.

Khushi held Ashas hand while sitting on the bench and said, Come Asha, lets eat some guava.

Khushi and Asha walked to the nearby guava tree. Khushi bent down to collect some guava from the ground.

Khushi gave it to Asha and said, Taste it. I love its sweet taste. Aman now said, Khushi, this is a fun place. I will also come here daily.

Suddenly Asha heard a creaking noise. The branch of the tree was about to fall on Khushi.

Asha figured out the noise looking at the direction.

Asha said pulling Khushi back, Move back! Khushi stepped aside.

The branch fell off on the side barely missing Khushi.

Aman ran towards Khushi and asked worriedly, Khushi, are you ok? Khushi was still scared and murmured, Yes I am ok, just a little scared.

Aman looked at Asha and said, Thank you Asha for saving Khushi. Its good, you saw the branch falling just on time else Khushi could have been badly hurt. Aasha said, Good to know that Khushi you are not hurt. Ill go back home now. CHAPTER 5 - A big surprise

Asha opened her bag.

She picked up a foldable stick and black goggles from the bag and started to walk out.

Aman, Khushi watched this in stunned silence and shock. Khushi was shocked for a moment and said, Sorry to know that you cant see Asha. But I just cant believe this. You were the one who saw the branch falling off the tree. Aman said, You were so good in the theatre you can hit the bulls eye without seeing.

Asha stopped and said, Dont feel bad friends! I cannot see since my birth but hey - no complaints. I can feel the things around me. I can hear, smell and taste - that is more than enough for me. I am very happy. Life is so beautiful. You should be thankful to the Almighty that you can also see and appreciate the beauty around you.

Aman said nodding with a simple smile, I agree - life is very beautiful. We just take everything for granted and dont value what we have. And then forget to appreciate the good things around us. Asha said, Absolutely correct I need to go home now its getting late. Bye, Bye friends! The girl started to walk out of the park.

Aman asked, giving a helping hand to Asha, I can take you to your home. Asha said, No thanks. This I do it daily. See you tomorrow in the park.

And then she left the park walking confidently. Aman and Khushi were happy that they had learnt a new lesson of the life today. Moral of the story: Life is always beautiful; it is up to us how we wish to see it CHAPTER 6 - Food for thought 1. Kids didnt find the park beautiful until they met Asha. Why was she able to feel nature so closely? 2. Asha was blind yet happy and didnt have any complain towards life. Was she really happy? Why do you think so? 3. Asha figured out that the branch was about to fall, by hearing the creaking sound. So, does that mean ears are more important than eyes? 4. Kids really got influenced by Asha. What were the good qualities of Asha that you like to have too and why? 5. Which of the five senses help you to feel the nature in the best way and how? 6. I cried when I didnt get new shoes, I stopped crying when I saw a man without legs. Is there any incident that made you appreciate what you have instead of taking it for granted? 7. You desperately want a thing but it is impossible to get it. What will you do? Keep

complaining and feel unhappy OR forget about it, be content with what you have and find joy in other things. Feel free to imagine, generate new questions, think and discuss the answer to all the questions with your friends, teachers and parents. Have Fun! ***** THE END *****
