CHAPTER 1 - Tantrums at dinner

In a house in a small town, a mother, Vidya, was serving dinner to her two kids, Aman and Khushi. The mother served them their dinner. Khushi complained softly, Maa, I dont like spinach daal. I will only eat the roti with the carrot and peas curry. Aman said in an irritated voice, Maa, you know I dont like these vegetables. Why have you served me carrot and peas curry? I only like potatoes. I dont want to eat anything.

Aman left the food as it is in the plate and rushed out of the kitchen. Vidya tried to call him back, Come back son. I will make potatoes for you tomorrow. But Aman didnt listen and went to his room in anger. He went out without eating anything. CHAPTER 2 - A shocking discovery

It was a thick jungle with creepy surrounding and weird sounds coming from all directions. Aman was scared and started crying, Water, Water! I need some water.

Aman started running to find the water. He came near a pond and he started drinking water from it. Suddenly, Aman saw his image in the clear water of the pond.

He was scared and shocked. He screamed, Maa! What has happened to me? Aman realized that he was in some scary land. He had become an orange monster. There were orange stripes all over his body.

He started running but fell down after hitting some stones. He realized that he was not able to see properly.

Luckily he found a pair of spectacles lying around which he wore immediately. He then heard Khushi murmuring in a scared voice Brother, are you ok. What kind of place we are in? Where is Maa?

Aman got up. After wearing the spectacles, he was further scared on seeing that his little sister was looking like a green monster. She had green stripes all over her body. Aman cried in shock, Khushi, what has happened to both of us - who has coloured us. I don't know where we are. Let us go home. Khushi agreed saying, Yes brother. Let us go. CHAPTER 3 - More shocks follow

They both started walking together holding their hands. Khushi was feeling tired. She said panting, Brother, I cant walk further. I am too tired. Aman tried to encourage his sister assuring that they would reach home very soon.

Suddenly, they saw a white skinny, tiny boy who got scared on seeing them. After looking closely at him, they recognized the boy as Anand, Amans close friend.

The tiny white boy started running away from them as they appeared as huge monsters to him. When he tried to run, his bones started to make cracking sound. Aman shouted, Anand, Anand come back. Anand stumbled and fell down badly after running a little distance. Aman and Khushi ran towards him.

Anand was relieved on recognizing that they were his friends. They all started walking together. Soon they came to an old temple. They stopped to take rest under the banyan tree in front of the old temple. Then they decided to go inside the temple. The children entered the temple.

Suddenly, an old man wearing a long overcoat appeared from back. He looked very calm and serene.

Seeing the kids, he laughed loudly and said mockingly, So, we have new faces here. With whom you all have behaved badly? On hearing this, all of them started to cry. CHAPTER 4 Simple cure for monstrous problem

Khushi pleaded, Uncle, please help us. We will like to go back to our home like we were before. Old man said, Dont worry. I will give you a medicine and you will become alright.

The old man went back.

He came back with three glass tumblers - one filled with orange colour, second with the green colour and the third with white colour liquid. He said, Each of you drink the medicine based on your body colour. Aman picked up a glass tumbler filled with orange colour liquid and said, Uncle, I know this will be very bitter. But I will try.

He drank reluctantly with his eyes and nose closed after removing his spectacles. It was a pleasant surprise to him to know that its taste was not bitter or bad. He slowly started enjoying it and finished it hurriedly.

Slowly, Aman got his vision back. His body colour started changing. He was back to normal now. He was very happy and relaxed.

Seeing this, Khushi hurriedly drank the green medicine and Anand drank the white medicine.

They also became normal like before and were very happy.

Aman enquired happily, Uncle, what is this magic medicine? The old man now started to laugh loudly again. He said, Can you all look at the glass tumbler closely?

The children read the printed words on the tumblers one after other. One was labelled carrot juice, other one spinach juice and third one as milk. They were surprised. The old man continued to laugh. CHAPTER 5 - Realization of mistake

Vidya was waking up Aman, Wake up Aman. Get ready fast. Otherwise you will be late to school.

Aman woke up from his sleep and looked all over his body in panic. He was happy to find that he was normal, not the orange monster. He then realized that it was a nightmare. He said, Maa, I will get ready. He walked out of bed to get ready for the school.

Vidya was now frying puris and making potato curry. Aman walked in. Vidya said, Son, I have made puris and your favourite potato curry for you. Aman hugged her and said, Sorry Maa, I misbehaved with you yesterday. I dont want to waste food. Ill eat the leftover food from yesterday. I know it is tasty and healthy too.

Vidya was very surprised but happy. She gave a nice smile. Aman had his breakfast and came out of his house. Moral of the story: Always eat balanced diet and never waste food CHAPTER 6 - Food for thought 1. Do you think Amans dream was teaching him something? If yes, what was that? 2. No one likes to have nightmares. Would you like to have nightmare that teach you something useful? 3. What would have happened to Aman in his dream if he was reluctant to drink the medicine? 4. Anand had become tiny with weak bones, so the old man gave him milk. What else the old man could have done? 5. If the old man had given Khushi mango juice, would it have helped her same way? 6. What was the best change you noticed in Aman after waking up from the dream? 7. The parents always insist you to eat everything that is served to you for your meals, not just your favorite food. Do you know why? 8. Can there be simple solutions to bigger and complex problems of life?

Feel free to imagine, generate new questions, think and discuss the answer to all the questions with your friends, teachers and parents. Have Fun! ***** THE END *****
