HBREDBRO LBGITIMO
El rasgo cultural ms caracterstico de Vics en el Norte del Per actual es su cermica. Sus orgenes, segn los entendidos, datan desde 500 Aos antes de Cristo, luego viene un largo camino que absorbe influencias Cupisniqui y Mochicas, y.hay fases como la denominada "Sechura". Tambin en su historia estn los Tallanes y los mticos curacas, las Mandonas Capullanas con sus largas trenzas y sus tnicas hasta los tobillos, seguidas por un squito de varios maridos.

De este pasado se nutren hoy los legtimos herederos de esa vasta cultura: los'Artesanos de Chulucanas. Uno de ellos es el talentoso joven maestro, Polo Ramrez. Recin lo conozco, he visto su obra y me convence su filosofia de hombre del pueblo. "Hay cuatro
palabras bonitas que aplico todos los das", me dice. "Cuales son pregunto?" El contesta: "Verdad, inteligencia" libertad

y accin".
Con esos pensamientos, con la arcilla, sus manos, su talento, Polo Ramrez trabaja como todos los artistas autnticos, sin preocuparnos por buscar la identidad en ninguna parte porque hace siglos la tenemos.

The outstanding characteristic of Vicus in the north of what today is Peru is its pofiery. Its origins,
according to the experts, date back to 500 B.C. then comes

a long spell which absorbs Cupisniqui and Mochica influences, and there are phases like the one known as
"Sechurat'. The history ofthe Vicus includes the Tallanes and the mythical curacas, the Mandonas Capullanas with their long braids and ankle-length tunics, followed by a retinue ofseveral husbands.

Today's legitimate heirs to this vast culture are nurtured by such a past - they are the craftsmen, of Chulucanas. One of them is the talented young master craftsman, Polo Ramrez. I have only recently met him, have seen his work and go along with his philosophy as a man of the people.'"There are four nice words I use every day", he says. "What are they ?" I ask and he repliei, "Truth, intelligence, freedom and action."
