A Plague in Mine Own Heart

Opening Scripture: Psalms 77 Psalms 73:14-19 Habakkuk 2 For all the day long have I been plagued, and chastened every morning. I will stand upon my watch, and set me upon the tower, and will watch to see what he will say unto me, and what I shall answer when I am reproved. Behold, his soul which is lifted up is not upright in him: but the just shall live by his faith. Teach me, and I will hold my tongue: and cause me to understand wherein I have erred. So foolish was I, and ignorant: I was as a beast before thee. (Isaiah 1) Thou didst strike through with his staves the head of his villages: they came out as a whirlwind to scatter me: their rejoicing was as to devour the poor secretly. For the enemy hath persecuted my soul; he hath smitten my life down to the ground; he hath made me to dwell in darkness, as those that have been long dead. (Proverbs 21:1-9) Frowardness is in his heart, he deviseth mischief continually; he soweth discord. (Habakkuk 1:3-5) Let not an evil speaker be established in the earth: evil shall hunt the violent man to overthrow him. Wickedness is in the midst thereof: deceit and guile depart not from her streets. (Psalm 73:1-11) Take ye heed every one of his neighbour, and trust ye not in any brother: for every brother will utterly supplant, and every neighbour will walk with slanders. When my spirit was overwhelmed within me, then thou knewest my path. In the way wherein I walked have they privily laid a snare for me. My heart is sore pained within me: and the terrors of death are fallen upon me. (Psalm 124) Whoso privily slandereth his neighbour, him will I cut off: him that hath an high look and a proud heart will not I suffer. (Job 40:11-12)

The man that wandereth out of the way of understanding shall remain in the congregation of the dead. (Proverbs 21:18-31) Thus saith the LORD; Behold, I set before you the way of life, and the way of death. for more are the children of the desolate than the children of the married wife, saith the LORD. (Nahum 2:10-13, 3:10-19) He that scattered Israel will gather him, and keep him, as a shepherd doth his flock. For he is not a God of the dead, but of the living: for all live unto him. And he lifted up his eyes on his disciples, and said, Blessed be ye poor: for yours is the kingdom of God. Blessed are they which are persecuted for righteousness' sake: for theirs is the kingdom of heaven. Rejoice, and be exceeding glad: for great is your reward in heaven: for so persecuted they the prophets which were before you. Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father which is in heaven. The disciple is not above his master, nor the servant above his lord. The kings of the Gentiles exercise lordship over them; and they that exercise authority upon them are called benefactors. But ye shall not be so: but he that is greatest among you, let him be as the younger; and he that is chief, as he that doth serve. Can the blind lead the blind? shall they not both fall into the ditch?

Luke 6:35-45 Closing: Psalm 61

If ye be willing and obedient, ye shall eat the good of the land: But if ye refuse and rebel, ye shall be devoured with the sword: for the mouth of the LORD hath spoken it.
