Description
I’m not sure about you, but I know I had a rough time in school. I didn’t fit in or feel like learning was nurtured, and I didn’t learn about being inclusive. There are so many difficult conversations being had between students and teachers nowadays, and I don’t recall that being embraced when I was a student. Liz is absolutely incredible, as you will hear, and today we talk about some big topics such as explaining the concept of consent to her students. Today on The Platform... The ease of explaining difficult concepts to children How Liz includes parents in the conversation Explaining peer pressure Journal prompts for her students The language around enslaved people and slaves Welcoming questions + deciding which books to teach from Fostering an environment where students can decide Discussing gender with her students The importance of supporting women To learn more, visit: http://thisistheplatform.com/podcast Resources: Learn more: teachandtransform.org Instagram: @teachandtransform Take some time for yourself with a journaling practice: thisistheplatform.com/journal Join Kelli in The Journey Within: Healing The Platform is produced by Podcast Masters
