Description
Do you hold the expectation that your relationship must check off all of your fulfillment boxes? How about your job, are you telling yourself that your job must be the perfect alignment of your passions, gifts and talents? I don't know where I picked up this story, but somewhere in my life I convinced myself that my partners (girlfriends and then wife), were SUPPOSED to fulfill me in every way: sexually, emotionally, mentally, socially, and every other way I can think of. And somewhere else in my life I picked up the story that if my job wasn't the perfect combination of my passions, gifts and talents, and that if presented any friction for me, then I must not be in the right field of work. Can you relate to these beliefs? Holding onto these beliefs as truths has led to tumultuous relationships and frustrating career moves. But have you stopped to examine exactly how that story has impacted your life? And whether or not another belief can be inserted that can help you create a better experience in your relationship and job? Take a listen while I examine the belief that our relationships and careers must fulfill us in every way in order for them to be deemed "worthy and successful".
