TRANSMISSION CYCLE:

As with dengue, there is no specific medication for DHF.

It can however be effectively treated by fluid replacement therapy if an early clinical diagnosis is made.

There is no vaccine against dengue fever.

Prevention of mosquito bites:


mosquitoes that spread malaria - bite at night (from "dusk until dawn"), mosquitoes that spread dengue fever - bite during the day. While outdoors:

Wear light-colored clothing, long

sleeves & long pants. Use insect repellent Reapply after swimming or excessive sweating.

While indoors or asleep:

Install fly-wire on windows Use "insect spray to kill mosquitoes Use bed net

worker sprays chemicals to kill mosquitoes to prevent spread of dengue fever.
