SECTION 4 GAS PIPING SYSTEM DESIGN, MATERIAL AND COMPONENTS

Provision for location of point of delivery Lokasi pusat penghantaran haruslah boleh diterima oleh pihak pembekal gas.

SECTION 4 GAS PIPING SYSTEM DESIGN, MATERIAL AND COMPONENTS

Gas pressure regulators - The gas pressure regulator location shall be such that the connections are readily accessible for servicing. - Pressure regulator shall be protected or so located against accidental damage. - An adequately sized independent vent to the outside of the building shall be provided when the line pressure regulator at its location is such that a ruptured diaphragm will cause a hazard. - The vent shall be designed to prevent the entry of water, insects or other foreign materials that could cause blockage. - A line pressure regulator shall not be vented to the gas equipment flue or exhaust system. - Identification as meter identification. - LPG second stage regulator shall comply ANSI/UL 144.
MS 930 15

SECTION 6 GAS PIPING STALLATION

Piping under ground - Underground gas piping shall be installed with enough clearance from any other underground structure. - Piping shall be buried a sufficient depth or covered in a manner so as to protect the piping from physical damage. - underground piping shall be installed with at least 450 mm of cover. The cover may be reduced to 300 mm if external damage to the pipe not likely to result. If a minimum 300 mm of cover cannot be maintained, the pipe shall be installed in conduit or bridged (shielded) - Gas piping in contact with earth or other material which may corrode the piping, shall be protected against corrosion in an approved manner. - Connection between metallic and plastic pipe shall be made only outside, underground and with approved transition fitting.

SECTION 7 INSPECTION, TESTING AND PURGING

A piping system may be tested as a complete unit or in sections as the construction progresses. Under no circumstances shall a valve in a line be used as a bulkhead between gas in one section of the piping system and test medium in an adjacent section, unless two valves are installed in series with a valve tell-tale located between these valves. A valve shall not be subjected to the test pressure unless it can be determined that the valve, including the valve closing mechanism, is design to withstand the test pressure.

MS 930

25

SECTION 7 INSPECTION, TESTING AND PURGING Test Medium The test medium shall be air or inert das (e.g nitrogen, carbon dioxide). OXYGEN SHALL NEVER BE USED. Fuel gas may be used in piping systems, operating at pressure of 3.5 kPa gauge (0.5 psig) or less. Test pressure Pressure shall be measured with pressure measuring device and calibrated as to read, record and indicated pressure loss due to leakage during the pressure test period. The source of pressure shall be isolated before the pressure tests are made.
