Client Relationship Relationship History:


We have been working with TechAuto for the last one year. We are responsible for providing an integrated ERP solution and implementation of the same at the clients company. The project delivery is at Phase II of the complete implementation cycle, where the Phase I has been successfully implemented, up & running at the clients place. Still three more phases to go. Till now the relationship with the client has been smooth, without any major problems apart from some training issues at the clients place while implementation of Phase I. These issues were well taken care of during the implementation of Phase II, which went hassle free.

Contracting History

In a legal and binding contract with TechAuto since the last one year. A total of 12 billable resources are deployed for the project. There are 3 onsite resources who are actively involved in requirement gathering and analysis and preparing the project plan and SRS document. 5 resources were deployed at the offshore for the application development, 2 resources for testing and 2 resources for implementation and training at the clients place. After the complete implementation of the ERP package, we expect to bid for the contract of maintenance and upgrade of the ERP software. That would be dependent on the implementation of the remaining three phases. Our competitors such as ABC technologies and XYZ technocomp are very strong contenders for the maintenance and upgrade project, as this is one of their main competitive advantages and a major 46% and 41% of their respective revenues come form upgrade and maintenance projects.

INTELLITECH CHALLENGES

The client has six manufacturing plants in India. Though each of these manufacturing plants is equipped with the state of the art machinery, each plant has invested in independent IT systems to run their operations. As a result, the company is lacking an organizational view of the business that would enable better efficiencies and effective decision making.

The fact that organization cannot exploit the synergies in the business processes across the plants is hurting the company even more now, when due to the economic slowdown, the business is slow and company is struggling to control its operational costs.
Major difficulties were faced while studying the current/legacy systems in the manufacturing plants. Apart from the fact that there were independently running IT systems in every manufacturing plant, the systems were running on different platforms as well.

A great deal of effort was invested in finding the optimum platform as the employees were already habituated working on a particular platform and changing platforms is faced with resistance at times. While the Phase I implementation of the ERP package, there were training issues with the employees as they were facing difficulty in having a hands on with the application. Also the phase I implementation got delayed by a week and a half because there was project pending at the clients site for their customer, without the delivery of which, we could not start implementing our package.

COMMUNICATION PLAN

Fortnightly teleconference with the client to check on the status of the implemented package. The details of this conversation are shared with the assistant project managers.
A weekly review of the SRS document by the Junior Project Managers. And a report of the review is sent to the project manager for approval.
