Introduction
This is a topic related to generation of power using work done/process done by us in day to day life. But all process are not suitable, hence we have selected the topic of generation of power by vehicles used by us. In further pages we are able to see the process of generation of power by vehicles. The power is generated by the motion of wheels over the speed breakers and due to the gear mechanism inside the breaker the power is generated and can be supplied to rural areas and many other places.

OBJECTIVE
GENERATING ELECTRIC POWER

FROM SPEED BREAKER USING GENERATORS.

Working Elements
The Working elements are:
1. Rack and Pinion 2. Spur Gear 3. flywheel 4. Bearing 5. Shaft 6. Spring 7. Electric Dynamo

PRINCIPLE OF GENERATOR
Mechanical energy is converted into electrical energy. The turning of a coil in a magnetic field produces motional emfs .Since the component of the velocity perpendicular to the magnetic field changes sinusoidally with the rotation, the generated voltage is sinusoidal or AC. This process can be described in terms of Faradays Law when you see that the rotation of the coil, the Magnetic Flux changes through the coil and therefore generates a voltage.

WORKING &IMPLIMENTATION
The shaft of the generator is connected to the axis of the rolling speed breaker. When the automobile crosses over the speed breaker the shaft is rotated. Hence the rotating shaft of generator produces electrical energy. The electrical energy generated is stored in power unit.

Design & Febrication

The design can be done in following two ways: I. The speed breakers designed is supported by springs from one side and attached to road from other side. It consist of flywheel which is attached / connected to dynamo or alternator and a small gear connected by chain drive with the gear placed above it with a rack

n pinion arrangement.
II. The other type is roller mechanism in which a roller of certain diameter made up of magnetic material is placed in the gap on the road under which a generator is located and is attached to alternator / dynamo through the v-belt and operates due to magnetic field produced between the roller and the generator . The power generated is stored in the inverter and used further as per requirement.

Testing , Result &Uses

It was first tested and produced by Mr. S. Ganesh & Mr. Subhra Priyadarshini in 2003 & 2005 respectively. It was tested by them several times, and after testing they introduced their model in their college. As they had won 2nd place with it, they talked with the MSEB members in a conference and its a new search MSEB granted permission to them for its use. After getting permission they first tried it on the the normal road speed breakers, but due to less transportation the model/project made by them does not able to create more / sufficient amount of energy to lighten up the streets only. Hence it was refused by the MSEB members in just 5 to 6 months. MSEB asked them to stop their project of Generation of Power by Speed Breakers.

But now we have selected this project because now a days transportation is at higher level and if this project is taken into consideration it will create enough power to lighten up the streets/ to charge the battery of a vehicle. it can be used at toll tax counters,in the breakers and the places were breakers are available on the roads.

CONCLUSION
It can be implemented at metropolitan cities. so that more electric power is produced. Arrangement of whole setup is easier. The stored electricity could satisfy the daily requirement of electric power. Since the arrangement is easier but power transmission is not as costly as its setup.hence power can easily be transmitted.

Advantages
1) Low budget electricity production

Less floor area No obstruction to traffic Easy maintenance Suitable at parking of multiplexes, malls, toll booths, signals, etc. 6) Charging batteries and using them to light up the streets, etc 2) 3) 4) 5)

Disadvantages
1) Selecting suitable generator. 2) Selection of springs. 3) Achieving proper balance of speed and torque. 4) It gives low electric output.
