INTRODUCTION
Maruti Udyog Limited(MUL):established in February 1981,though the actual production commenced in1983 with the Maruti800. .Maruti Udyog Limited was renamed as Maruti Suzuki India Limited.(17Sept.2007) The company's headquarters are located at Plotno.1 Nelson Mandela Road, VasantKunj,NewDelhi-110070 .It has 4 plants for Manufacturing facility:- 3 in Gurgaon and one in Manesar .

Maruti Suzuki is India and Nepals leading automobile manufacturing company and the market leader in the car segment both in terms of volume of vehicles sold and revenue earned. Until recently,18.28% of the company was owned by the Indian government and 54.2% by Suzuki of Japan. The BJP led government held an initial public offering of 25% of the company in June2003 As of 10th May2007 Govt.of India sold its complete share to Indian financial institutions. The Govt.of India no longer has stake in Maruti Udyog.

Comparison Between 2011-12 And 2012-13 Financial Years

Company sold a total of 54,154 units in August 2012.It included 4,025 of exports. Company sold a total of 91,442 units in August 2011. Due to lock out at Maneswar plant(21st July 2012-20th August 2012),supply of Swift,Desire,SX4 and A-Star models was impacted. Customers extended strong support to the company,reflected in higher retail sales of other models.Growth of 6.7% compared to same period last year.

NATIONAL ROAD SAFETY MISSION


National Road Safety Mission is the flagship Road Safety initiative introduced by the Company in December 2008.

Amongst the five lakh people trained one lakh are from the underprivileged sections of society. The main objective was to make them employable in driving profession. Through various road safety initiatives MARUTI have cumulatively trained over 10 lakhs people in safe driving.

WEAKNESS
The major weakness is that Maruti Suzuki India pvt. Ltd. Still depends in Suzuki corporation. Low interior quality. There is a heavy import tariff on fully built imported models. Maruti hasnt proved itself in SUV segment like other players.

OPPORTUNITIES
MUL can start R&D on electric cars for a much better substitute of the fuel. MUL has launched its LPG version of Wagon R and it was a good move simultaneously. With increase in the income scale of individual, demands for cars are rising. Export capacity of the company is giving new hopes in American and UK markets.

THREATS
Threat of new technology driven players. Biggest threat of MUL is globalization. China may give a good competition as they are also planning to enter into Indian car segment. Maruti Suzuki has lost its market share due to many small players like Volkswagenpolo. Ford has shown a considerable increase in market share due to its Figo.
