THE SIMPLE DOMESTIC DRAINAGE

The drainage system is a pipe work ,usually installed below the ground level to convey the discharge from sanitary fittings The rain water gutter and down pipes are suitable disposals installation

The method of disposal

The usual method of disposal is to connect the pipe work to the public sewer

the second method is cesspool: The letter is collection tank to hold the discharge until it can be collected in Special tanker lorry

THE BASIC PRINCIPALES OF GOOD DRAINAGE

The material should have good strength and durability Diameter of drain :if it's dwelling minimum 100mm if its public sewer- minimum 150mm Every part of drain should have inspection and cleaning facility Drain should be laid in straight runs as far as possible Every drain inlet should be trapped to prevent the entry Inspection chambers, manholes. access fittings should placed changes of direction Avoid drains under the buildings Drain which are within 1m depth from the foundation

THE SYESTEM OF DISPOSAL DOING BY LOCAL AUTHORITY

COMBINED SYESTEM:

all the drains discharge in to common, combined sewer Its simple and economical method, easy maintenance

Disadvantage of this method

All the discharges must pass through the sewage treatment installation, which could be costly and prove to be difficult with periods of heavy rain,

TOTALLY SEPARATE SYESTEM

The most common method by Local Authorities' two sewers are used in this method. one sewer receives the surface water discharge and conveys this direct to suitable out fall such as river where it is discharge without treatment. the second sewer receive all the soil or foul discharge from baths, basins, sinks, shower, and toilets. this is then conveyed to the sewage treatment installation

PARTIALLY SEPARATE SYESTEM

This the compromise of the other two system and is favored by some local authority because of its flexibility. two sewer are used, one to carry surface water only and the other to act as a combined sewer

INSPECTION CHAMBERS
Deep inspection chambers are called manholes : They a box containing half or three-quarter section round channels to enable the flow to be observed; at the same time providing the access point to the drain for the purpose of cleaning. The simple domestic drainage normally only concerned with shallow inspection chambers up to an invert depth of 1800mm . The manhole space required for a man to work within the inspection chamber

INSPECTION CHAMBERS

RAIN WATER DRAINAGE

A rainwater drainage installation is required to collect the discharge from roof and paved areas, and convey it to a suitable drainage system. A rainwater installation for a roof consists of a collection channel called a gutter which is connected to the vertical rainwater pipes.
