Idea 1: To solve the problem of sitting/standing of vegetable sellers (hawkers in general)

Lets meet some of them

Name : Rajesh Bhai Age: 32 years In this business since last 10 years Timing: 4pm to 8 pm everyday Posture: Mostly standing while attending customers If gets a place to sit, he uses it for support Problems he faced: Pain in the legs and waist since last 2 years Went to doctor, takes medicines, but no relief.

Lets see what she says

Name: Pushpa Ben Age: 28 years
In business since last 8 years Timing: 4 pm to 9 pm everyday Has a son studying in class 3. Sometimes husband joins her. Daily income: Rs. 150 -200. Problems : Foot pain, pain in the back and waist

NOW ACCUSTOMED TO THE PAIN

Posture: Standing always. Shown to doc but not medicines not that effective.

Problem Definition
A comfortable sitting facility for vegetable sellers so that their pain of standing all the time is reduced and their posture is also maintained without affecting the access to vegetables and the transactions with the customers.

Proposed solution
To design a new vegetable cart/carrier that addresses the problem considering the following metrics/checklist: a) Comfortable posture of the seller b) Access to all the vegetables. c) Proper visibility of the seller and the vegetables to the customers. d) Effective transaction with the customers. e) Cleanliness.

Idea 2:
New design of shoeracks

Some observations
In spite of having the shoe racks, people living in the houses prefer to keep it outside only, not in the shoe racks. Have to bend down to open the cupboard to find the required shoes. If the shoes are deep inside , the person is compelled to use his/her hands to take out the shoes. In open shoe racks, there is an advantage of not having cupboards. But again, you have to raise your leg to get the shoes from the topmost row.

Some more observations

Most people prefer to keep their shoes outside. If house owns too many shoes , and keeping it inside the shoe rack is a mess, some people generally prefer to keep their favorite pair inside to keep it aesthetics intact. Problem of open shoe racks: chance of your shoe getting stolen or be an playful object for street dogs.

Problem definition
To address the issues of using the standard shoe rack available.

Proposed solution
To propose a new design of shoerack with following metric/ checklist in consideration: a) Ease of access to any shoe b) Space optimization c) Less/No use of hands to take out the shoe. d) Should not require bending / or raising of legs above certain height- important especially for elderly people and kids. e) Cleanliness- important during rainy seasons f) Safety
