INTRODUCTION

COURSE AIM

The course provides theoretical knowledge and practical skills to electrical Tradespersons, Trade Assistant or anyone associated with telecommunication cables installation and their earthing requirements.

BASIC TYPES OF TRANSMISSION LINES

1. Two wire line (upto 200 Mc/s) Open-wire line consisting of two parallel wires twisted-pair line of two insulated wires twisted together (Cable twisting helps to reduce noise pickup from outside sources and crosstalk on multi-pair cables) 2. Coaxial cable (200 Mc/s 3 Gc/s) 3. Waveguide (above 3 Gc/s) Rectangular Circular

(FEEDER CABLE PREPERATION)

1- Cut the cable perpendicularly.

2- Peel the cable so that at least two valleys will be visible. Place the cable in the cutting tool. Rotate the tool until a cut has been made. Make sure that you dont cut into the copper.

3- Peel off the plastic jacket with a knife.

4- Place the cable into the tool again. Lightly close the tool and rotate clockwise until the blade has cut the cable all the way to the inner conductor.

5- Remove the outer conductor and the foam from the inner conductor.

6- Clean the inner conductor with the abrasive paper

7- Chamfer the edge of the inner conductor with a file .
