The word Entrepreneur has been derived from the french word Entreprende, which means to undertake. The term entrepreneur is applicable to the one who organizes, manages and assumes the risk of a business enterprise.

An economist defines an entrepreneur as one who brings resources, labour ,material and other assets into combinations that make value greater than before and also one who introduces changes , innovations and new order. A psychologist defines an entrepreneur as a person who is typically driven by some forces , which creates a desire to obtain or attain something.

A sociologist defines entrepreneur as a person whose actions would determines his social status and who contributes to the development of the society. Management experts define entrepreneur as a person who has vision and generates an action plan to achieve it. Entrepreneur is an individual who takes risks and starts something new.

Commitment and determination of Wipros leader took it to the peak of marker shares by 2008. It surely proves that it is one of the greatest characteristics/skills of a successful entrepreneur.

The 68 years old founder of Patagonia, an outdoor clothing and equipment company, calls his company an experiment. Yvons early years were spent very close to nature, he spent his youth surfing in the pacific, climbing and trekking on the rockies. He started making outdoor equipment to support his freewheeling lifestyle.

Along with his wife, he launched a company in 1972. It was the company on their terms. Long before recycling became a buzzword, Patagonia was reusing material. In 1993, Patagonia introduced fleece jackets made from discarded soda bottles.

In 1996, it introduced organic cotton and in the process helped establish the organic cotton industry. When on one of their Japanese suppliers came up with a process by which used polyester can be endlessly recycled, Patagonia encouraged customers to send back their worn out cloths.

Patogonia is a profit making company with a turnover of over $270 million . Yvons passion and commitment for growth and innovation has lead patogonia to this position!
