RESULTS AND DISCUSSION

5% or 5 students out of 100 said that PE should be abolished and 4 out of the 5 are girls. Article by Art Young at http://www.helium.com/items/1303633-whygirls-hate-pe, studying a survey conducted in England why girls hate PE classes.

Why girls hate physical education classes

by Art Young
Recently, the "Times of London" noted a survey from the "Women's Sport and Fitness Foundation" that less than 3 percent of women in England play competitive team sports, while those 16 to 24 years of age are half as active as their male peers. Nearly a quarter of these young women said that P.E. classes in school put them off sports for life! Here are some other results from this survey: 40% of girls feel self-conscious of their bodies in P.E. lessons 25% of women hate the way they look when they are physically active 25% of girls say it is cool to play spots 61% of women would exercise more if they could do it with their families 80% of women believe that sport should be more like shopping

Testimonials From The Students

6th year BPE student It should not be abolished as it is important to the students holistic development. 4th year Law student because the law states that physical fitness be implied to students. Anonymous health should never be taken for granted

3rd year MBB student PE gives students a chance to take time off academics and engage in fun physical activities. 4th year EL student No, since the university aims for excellence in all areas, we should retain having a PE class. 4th year BPE student No, because I believe in Multiple Intelligence, and the importance of Bodily Kinesthetic Intelligence to be equal among other aspects of Intelligence.
