The aims of the Technology Studies Stream are to: Create awareness of the importance of structural elements and materials conscious approach to designing with the local context. Adequate knowledge of the basic and latest technologies in relation to the construction industry. Understanding of the structural design, construction and engineering problems associated with building design. Provide a problem based learning for teamwork, leadership, time management and communication skills. Provide a context for application and integration of technical issues in relation to design studios.
Technology Studies
The learning outcome of the Technology Studies Stream are: Adequate knowledge of the history and theories of architecture and related arts, technologies and human sciences.(3) Ability to create architectural designs that satisfy both aesthetics and technical requirements and which aim to be environmentally sustainable (4) Understanding of the structural design, construction and engineering problems associated with building design (6) Basic knowledge of the industries, organisations, regulations and procedures involved in translating design concepts into buildings and integrating plans into overall planning (8) Convey results of work effectively both orally and in writing.(10)
