By Anthony Zarate and Jorge Vasquez

About the Test

The CST is the California Standardized Testing. We take the CST on the 22th of April. Our goal is to get a high score on the CST. The goal of our school it to get 711.

How Ive Prepared for the CST

I paid attention in class. Ive studied what I learned. I think about doing good the test .

How SFMS teachers have prepared me for the CST

Teachers have reviewed what will be on the CST. The teachers help me by explaining to me the information hat I dont understand. The teachers make sure that I know the information that will be on the CST.

Test Taking Tips: The Night and Morning Before

Go to bed early. Eat breakfast in the morning. Be ready for the test.

Test Taking Tips: During the Test

Cross off choices that you know are incorrect. Read the question several times, carefully. Double check your answers. Answer each question carefully and put it in the right spot. Dont freak out, stay calm.

Math Tips

Try your best and stay calm. Eliminate the incorrect answers. Check your answers. If you dont know the answer go with your first guess. Recheck your answers.

English Tips

Read the questions carefully. Read your answers first. Read the question more than once. Dont second guess yourself unless you know for sure that it is wrong. You can do it for the English test .

Powers and Exponents

An exponent is a positive or negative number or 0 placed above and to the right of a quantity. An exponent expresses the power to which the quantity is to be raised or lowered. Any number to the first power is that number. Any number besides 0 to the zero power is 1. Square and cubed are two specific exponents that should be noticed.

Solving Systems of Equations (Simultaneous Equations)

If you have the same two unknowns in two different equations, you can solve for both unknowns. Addition/subtraction, substitution, and graphing are the three common methods used for solving. The addition/subtraction method is also known as the elimination method. The substitution method involves substituting one equation into another.

Example

2x-2y=10 x-y=5 1. Multiply one or both equations by some number(s) to make the number in front of one of the variables the same or exactly the opposite in each equation. 2(x-y)=2(5) 2x-2y=10 2.Add or subtract the two equations to eliminate one of the variables. 2x-2y=10 2x2y=10 4x=20 3. Solve for the remaining variable. x=5 4. Solve for the other variable by inserting the value of the variable. 10-2y=10 -2y=0 y=0

Similes

Compares two unlike things uses like or as. Is a figure of speech. Can be used in language, literature, and music. Is a type of analogy. An example would be cute as a kitten.
