Nonincendive Field Wiring


Nonincendive equipment. Equipment that contains no
arcing or sparking components and does not generate heat capable of igniting the hazardous atmosphere when supplied with its rated power. NEC Article 500-4(f)(2)

Nonincendive Field Wiring. Wiring that enters or leaves an


equipment enclosure and, under normal operating conditions of the equipment, is not capable, due to arcing or thermal effects, of igniting the flammable gasair, vaporair, or dustair mixture. Normal operation includes opening, shorting, or grounding the field wiring. NEC 501-4(b)(3) Wiring Methods

Nonincendive Field Wiring. Nonincendive field wiring shall be


permitted using any of the wiring methods permitted for unclassified locations.

Molded connector end meets gas-block construction requirements Use of connector guard allows the use of QD technology in Division 2 Armored construction of MC/ITC cable allows its installation as open wiring per NEC 727.4(4) ITC rating of cable allows its installation as open wiring for 15m (50 ft) between cable tray and equipment per NEC 727.4(5).
